In the heart of Barcelona you will find Mayura, serving a fusion of Indian & Mediterranean food and exquisite cocktails in a tranquil and intimate space. Decorated with natural elements like silk, water, bamboo, slate & wood, the serene setting is colourfully furnished in a contemporary colonial style, making one feel like they are sitting in the Indian sub-continent. Funky music, Indian & international cocktails and old black & white Bollywood movies make it an ideal place to lunch, dine or have a drink at any hour of the day. On weekdays Mayura serves a fixed price lunch. Healthy, fresh & delicious, chef Jesus creates a daily menu consisting of Catalan, Mediterranean & Indian dishes. During the evenings Mayura features an ‘a la carte’ menu. Choose from a variety of tapas, vegetarian, main courses & tasting platters. Mayura is owned by Rajnish Kapoor and his wife Mayura Kutappa. Having spent a lot of time travelling, discovering, discussing & experimenting with food, they left New York and the internet company he was running to open a small restaurant in Ibiza, Spain. After two successful years and the birth of their son Brahm they moved to Barcelona. Over the past 12 years they have shared their passion for movies, music, design and food; all of which they decided to bring together at Mayura which they opened in April 2006.

Went there over the bank holiday. Went for the thali and a "sample menu" both veggi. It's not a traditional Indian curry restaurant as such but it was nice enough food. Plenty of food but hot particularly chilli hot. We like the deco but the seats are not best for dinning in but was ok. Liked the... read more

After searching for an Indian restaurant in Barcelona, we found from reading reviews that this place is not at the top of the food chain when it comes to Tripadvisor Ratings. We actually booked a different restaurant, and on approach we did not like the appearance. Thus quickly redecided on Mayura in the heart of the city, all I can... More

Although it is not the cheapest, it is definitely the best quality Indian food (better than Ghandi because of ambiance, presentation and an overall elevated dining experience) I am part Indian, and whenever I am craving a great selection of chutneys and curries to warm me during the colder winter months Mayura is always my first thought. The mango lassi... More

I went here with my colleagues on a business dinner and we were offered a set menu. The service was brilliant. They always checked we had enough drinks etc. The food was very tasty and there was actually too much for us! The restaurant has a lovely Indian decor, with lots of bright colours. Although, had to ask them to... More

Cosy atmosphere, reasonable prices and authentic Indian food in Barcelona, what's not to like! We went for the tasting platters and enjoyed the Tapa's sized portions, but were still well fed. I would recommend without hesitation!

Family holiday in Barcleona with our two teenagers and it was getting a bit tricky on night three to accomadte everyone's individual preferences restaurant-wise! The answer was of course to go for a curry. Indian cuisine was always going to tick all of the boxes. Certainly though I was a bit sceptical about an Indian restaurant in Catalunia as was... More

Staying in Eixample

Neighborhood Profile
Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognizable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognized architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
