Excellent food marvellous ambiance

While staying at the W we decided to take a walk and find some local flavour. This restaurant is it. Great selection of dishes that are slightly off the wall but delicious and, in my view, innovative. The cod was fabulous and the Zucchini flowers sublime. Very cool little neighborhood tapas place. Great vide, fresh and creative food, and some great choices for wine. When we were there the chef had just gotten a live lobster (must have been 10 lbs) and was preparing it for few types of dishes for the next day. I would definitely give this one a try.

While not the most incredible meal I've ever had, this is definitely an inventive restaurant and extremely reasonably priced. All the food is locally sourced and the flavor combos are interesting. From a duck ceviche to zucchini blossoms stuffed with goat cheese, it was all quite delicious. The service is also outstanding (waitress took very good care of me esp... More

The good: Super fresh food The ambient. Quite and local. Music. The bad: Plates are too small and expensive Not really gourmet food. I would expect more elaboration based on the price

This is not my first review of Somorrostro. Through 6-7 years they kept a fantastic high standard, and with their new tapas concept they have reached new heights. I can not believe that people are not standing in long queues to get here. Conversely, however, let it remain a secret, so I can get a table next time I come... More

Picked this restaurant based on reviews - and wasn't let down! Nook and cranny location in Barceloneta but easy to find. Made reservations - table was ready. Very casual atmosphere - staff very friendly and spoke great English. Menu was very unique and eclectic! Really enjoyed their interesting food pairings - and all was very good. Prices were fair though... More

My man and I stumbled on Somorrostro in an attempt to eat in Barceloneta someplace less trappy than the waterside establishments. Please note the bar there - LESS trappy. Barceloneta is possibly the Mother Hive of Tourism for All Nations, and if you are there, this must be at least partially embraced. However, we hoped that by going down some... More

Wow, I wish we found this spot earlier in our stay in Barcelona (although we had fantastic food elsewhere as well). The best culinary ending. The area it is in (Barceloneta) felt like "Spain" to us. I wanted to explore it more, but alas, will save that for the next visit. We were a little worried they may be too... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighborhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
