After reading the reviews on here and being told by friends that I needed to try cochinillo by friends I decided to come here while visiting Segovia for the weekend. When I arrived it wasn't too busy but still a few locals, the waiters showed me to a table and after ordering from the 'menu tipico' I waited probably less... More

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the food, I’d avoid this place on principal until they change the way they treat their customers. We just got back from La Cueva de San Esteban and we won’t be returning. The food is descent enough. It’s nothing spectacular and not a great value, but for a touristy area it is about what... More

I have visited Spain, and Segovia numerous times. In Segovia I always end up eating at La Cueva de San Esteban - because the food has always been excellent and the service superb. The Cochinillo is the best I've eaten and better than anywhere in Madrid. The staff has always been very pleasant and by chance I always get the... More

Late October is a slow period and the place was empty when we arrived for dinner. We were impressed by the two large "Eurocave" wine refrigerators sitting by the bar: The red wine would not be some shade of "warm" this evening. We started with the house pate and a mixed salad. Both were huge. When the waiter saw our... More

We visited this restaurant on the advice of a famous guidebook. A little out of the way and indeed as its name says a cave-like environment. Honestly, it is hard to beat a price of 24 euros, for a massive plate of soup, suckling pig (the local specialty) with fries, a great dessert and a bottle of wine divided among... More

Initially difficult to locate, this place has a dining room and a more casual eating area in the bar. As it was a quiet evening, we ate in the bar. The food was typical of the region and all dishes were freshly cooked- no airs and graces, just good, hearty Segovian fare- delicious! We had the menu del dia, with... More

We went there twice and found it expensive. I wasn't impressed with the Castellana Soup or the White Bean Soup. We've had better food elsewhere in Segovia.

This place is definately worth a visit when in Segovia. Unpretentious, great atmosphere, charming staff and very good authentic Spanish food.Great selection of Tapas and Raciones, perfect for sharing plates. House wine is local and excellent both in taste and value. Popular with locals, always a good sign. Eight of us ate lots of food and drank 4 bottles of... More

As this restaurant is not on a busy plaza, you need to search it out. But it's worth the time. The place is filled with mostly locals, but the staff's English is very good. The menu is in English as well. It's not upscale or trendy, just good food at reasonable prices.

The locals eat here for a reason. Recommended by Rick Steve's so we gave it a try -- twice.
