Old time tapas like it used to be! We came to Segovia for a day trip from Madrid. The aqueduct & Alcazar were great, but the highlight of the trip for me was Jose Maria's. We came in and picked a table at in the bar, and ordered a couple of beers and free tapas were promptly delivered. We ordered... More

Super light, crispy, succulent! Not fatty at all and is the best cochinillo we ever tasted. So crispy and tender that it can be cut with a plate...even the head! Great deal too as we ordered a half bottle of house wine and they left us the entire bottle of Rioja but just charged us the half bottle.

We were delighted by the nice place and staff very carry but that was all for the good point. We ordered three meals, a chicken with french fries for our son, a salad with lamb for my wife and the so famous roasted pig. the chicken was over salt, the salad was quite a olive oïl soup and my pig... I had one of the best meals of my life in this restaurant! We went there as a group of six and had the 'menu degustacion' which consisted of about six courses and included wine and a coffee and digestif after the meal. The food was amazing, particularly the cochinillo (suckling pig) for which the restaurant is famous, but it... More

If you are in Madrid, take a day trip to Segovia. If you are in Segovia go to Jose Maria. Not even sure where to start. First they were more than accommodating. After sightseeing a bit we realized our original reservation would not provide us enough time to see everything before eating. We walked past the restaurant on our way... More

We had lunch on our day tour to Segovia. The restaurant was recommended by both the guide and the travel book. We had the suckling pig, cocinillo; and the bean soup, Judiones de la Granja (a must try) with the house wine. We were very pleasurably full before seeing the sights of this fun worthwhile town. A great day trip... More

We asked at our hotel for the best place to get cocinillo - suckling pig and without hesitation were told to go to Jose Maria. Everything about the lunch was excellent, the staff are professional and friendly, the interior is welcoming with a good buzz when busy and the food is excellent, the cocinillo was wonderful and the hake and... We asked at our hotel for the best place to get cocinillo - suckling pig and without hesitation were told to go to Jose Maria. They were right - it was delicious! The waiter told us their oven can cook up to 40 pigs at once, so clearly this was the specialty of the house.

We had a Tapas lunch at Jose maria shortly after arriving in Segovia last June. The lunch was so good we decided to come back for dinner. Pork and lamb was the best I had in Spain and that's saying something. Attentive service that really is concerned that everything is to your satisfaction.
