I did the usual tourist thing.. Popped in for my 3€ ponche segoviana. Very very sweet, you'll only want the small one unless you're sharing. Everything else looked fabulous!

This pastry shop has amazing cookies, cakes, and pastries of all kinds, but the best of all is the Ponche Segoviana -- a delicious treat that's wrapped in marzipan. The women who run the shop were pleasant to deal with. We went all 3 days we were in Segovia.

For a mid day snack and some pastries in a bakery that was most accommodating do stop here. They are right off the Plaza Mayor and it's hard to choose which pastry to have so do what we did - have several! You won't regret it.

Initially we just stopped to ask directions to the castle. The staff spoke little English but went out of her way to give us directions. We each had an ice cream and sweet pastry and set off for the castle. We had intended on a large lunch of suckling pig, but when lunchtime came opted to return to the pasteleria... More

We stopped in to try the specialty, which was good but very rich. They look small but could be split by two people. Staff wasn't the friendliest we encountered in Spain...but they weren't rude or anything.

I just had a coffee break here and enjoyed trying the ponche. Service was just ok and the small cake was €3. Similar treats are less expensive away from Plaza Mayor but it is a nice bakery.

We took a coffee break here and tried the Segovian specialty, ponche, quite nice. We also had some thin cookie with slivered almonds in it, also good. They also had many other beautiful desserts there that looked quite tempting!

Located on Plaza Mayor, it is hard to miss this local bakery. They have a very small cafe in the back and make a good cup of coffee to accompany whatever you choose from the front. I like their "cheesecake" with forest fruit jam on the top but the eclairs are good too. Service is spotty.

HEAVENS! This dessert is something you need to try when you go to Segovia! It is delicious!!!! I believe that trying this dessert is as equally important as trying the cochinillo at Jose Maria!
