Dining with the Romans

At least if felt a bit like dining with the Romans when we sat down to feast on a suckling pig while looking out on a 2000 year-old aquaduct. Fantastic, although super busy, historic restaurant in an amazing setting. Despite the huge numbers of diners the service was super and the food amazing. The... read more

We travel from puerto rico and want taste the "cochinillo" and we had a very little taste of it, a lot of bone and skin without any meat. we in puerto rico make better ones.

It was our third time in this restaurant. We booked a table in advance and had the opportunity to enjoy with the best baby pig we tasted. Everything was excellent: the pig, the atmosphere and the service. Our respect to Candido family

This restaurant was next to the aquaduct and I was told that is it famous for its roasted suckling pig, so I decided to give it a try with my friends. We received warm greeting from the owner upon arrival and was arranged to seat on the 2nd floor. The restaurant was nicely decorated and you can see the aquaduct... More

Situated by the viaduct in the square the restaurant was in an attractive location especially as there was a dancing festival that evening. We prefer to dine early so the restaurant was fairly quiet, so one might expect a more attentive service. There was an menu in English but the waiters spoke little English not that that was a problem... More

The visit is as much about the show as about dining experience. However, unlike so many 'Spanish nights', 'Greek nights' etc where in a supposedly historic setting and in line with an ancient tradition rather mediocre food is served, this place cooks incredibly delicious roasted suckling pigs. Quite good was also roasted lamb. House wine is quite decent too. In... More

Went here a few years back but I just thought I'd add a review as we had a memorable time dining here. The location was perfect as it is just a step away from the imposing Segovia Aqueduct. The highlight of the meal was of course the conchinillo asado. The other dishes that we ordered were just mediocre but the... More

After reading all about the supposedly wonderful cochinollo and booking months ahead to experience a speciality of Segovia this was a major disappointment. Where was the carving with a plate / the ceremony ? Instead a huge hunk of mediocre pork- methinks this is not the Michelin listed restaurant but a tourist trap! Not impressed. Oh and my wife's special... More

I was debating between giving this restaurant a "very good" or an "average" rating, but decided to go with the better rating because it is located in a very unique location next to the aqueduct, has an interesting interior with good ambiance, and is obviously a high quality restaurant. Also, the owner greeted us personally, made some small talk and... More

Meson de Candido is located right next to the aquaduct and so makes a nice place to wind up a day of sightseeing. We loved the pork - juicy, tender and a huge plate each. Senor Candido was on hand to meet, greet and show us his book filled with autographs and photos of great personalities who have visited the... More
