First off, the food is indeed delicious. The suckling pig (cochinillo) is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Other dishes are very well cooked as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very special: faux historical, with plenty of reminders of the place's renowned visitors. The scion of the family owners greets you personally. Having said that,... More

Everything was good, the owners involved in the business grant everything goes smooth, including touristic tour inside the meson and pictures with the owners themselves. A pity that the pork is cut with the plate (which is after that broken to show that the plate was not a fake) only if a whole pig is ordered.

In fairness, it has been a year since I visited this restaurant in Segovia, so perhaps it has improved a lot, certainly judging by recent reviews. It wasn't our first choice of restaurant as there was a Fiesta that particular evening and our first choices were all closed, however the reception were very friendly and obliging vis a dining reservation.The... I usually don't go for these sit-down restaurants with outdoor seating near big landmarks. To me, that's always screamed "expensive." But my friend heard great reviews about this place, so we made a reservation that morning and came back around noon for lunch. I personally don't care much for pork, so I had the chicken, which was huge! It came... More

If your going to have "lechon" (suckling pig) while visiting Spain, only have it here. "Candido has been roasting it the same way for hundreds of years, and it shows. its delicious, crispy skin juicy flavorful meat. Go to the Original historic place.

Segovia is known for its aqueduct and cochinillo (roasted suckling pig), where they slice the pork with a plate. So if you're trying this for the first time, meson de Candido is the place to go. I'm not a pork fan, but their cochinillo converted me. The meat was tender & juicy, and the skin so crispy. We asked if... More

Ok, I typically stay far away from these "tourist" type restaurants, but had a recommendation from a very good source that it is worthwhile. Well, I am very, very glad we went. I had the roast suckling pig, and my girlfriend had the roast leg of lamb. I don't know which I would recommend more, they were both absolutely delicious... More

We had made the mistake of eating at Boitin in Madrid the night before and so we were turned off to suckling pig.... but WOW were we happy we did not miss this place - food is outstanding and the service is very nice and very friendly. You cannot miss it!!! Also conveniently located at the entrance to the town.

We went there specifically for the suckling pig - and we weren't disappointed. Melt in your mouth. Beneath the shadows of the aqueduct and sitting outside, we were treated to a wonderful meal by the professional staff. The performance of the chef at our table, to say a few words over the dish, cut the cooked pig dramatically with a... More
