If your going to have "lechon" (suckling pig) while visiting Spain, only have it here. "Candido has been roasting it the same way for hundreds of years, and it shows. its delicious, crispy skin juicy flavorful meat. Go to the Original historic place.

Segovia is known for its aqueduct and cochinillo (roasted suckling pig), where they slice the pork with a plate. So if you're trying this for the first time, meson de Candido is the place to go. I'm not a pork fan, but their cochinillo converted me. The meat was tender & juicy, and the skin so crispy. We asked if... More

Ok, I typically stay far away from these "tourist" type restaurants, but had a recommendation from a very good source that it is worthwhile. Well, I am very, very glad we went. I had the roast suckling pig, and my girlfriend had the roast leg of lamb. I don't know which I would recommend more, they were both absolutely delicious... More

We had made the mistake of eating at Boitin in Madrid the night before and so we were turned off to suckling pig.... but WOW were we happy we did not miss this place - food is outstanding and the service is very nice and very friendly. You cannot miss it!!! Also conveniently located at the entrance to the town.

We went there specifically for the suckling pig - and we weren't disappointed. Melt in your mouth. Beneath the shadows of the aqueduct and sitting outside, we were treated to a wonderful meal by the professional staff. The performance of the chef at our table, to say a few words over the dish, cut the cooked pig dramatically with a... More

I defy anyone who has travelled in Europe to find a better place. The King of the suckling pig and his son preside one of the most impressive hostelries of the old continent. The menu is large, the wine list is superb, the staff are first class professionals and if you are lucky enough to witness the cutting of the... More

During 1982, I was a guest of Iberia on a trip to Madrid and Barcelona. During those years I was honoured by international airlines operating out of Johannesburg and my trip to Spain was kindly sponsored by Iberia, the Spanish airline. During my stay in Madrid at the Hotel Colòn opposite the Old Cathedral, I was taken on a daytrip... More

Just down the main street in Segovia, you will find a charming old restaurant which has been frequented by the rich and famous. It is well known for its Serrano ham. The inside of the restaurant has mounted game animals on the wall. Pictures of the rich and famous who have dined there are also mounted on the walls.

It's famous of its Cochinillo. And it didn't disappoint me after trying. And I also ordered one plate of vegetable and I like it. The cheese as desert was the best cheese I have ever tried.

Our party of nine went to the restaurant specifically to have roast sucking pig. Our very helpful waiter suggested we order 5 cochinello and 2 salads to share . His advice was perfect! Everyone was satisfied and no food was wasted. We enjoyed the lovely room, the view of the aquaduct and the sangria.
