Excellent Cochinillo

If you like cochinillo, this seems like the place to go in Segovia. It is located right by the aqueduct and is a 10 minute walk from the bus station. There were lots of tourists dining here. The cochinillo did not disappoint. Crispy skin on the outside and tender/juicy meat inside. This place is... read more

Located next to the famous Roman Aqueduct of Segovia, Cándido offers wonderful regional food cooked traditionally. The specialty is cochinillo, roasted suckling pig. The restaurant is definitely old world, lots of history on the walls, and traditional setting. The staff is extremely efficient and attentive. Our group was treated to a wonderful lunch with lots of appetizers, excellent wine, and bread. The... More

Curiosity for the best cochinillo brought me into this restaurant. Being a large restaurant, sitting was full. Luckily they just empty a table on the 3rd level. We were sat in a nice table for 5. With windows facing the outstanding view of the aqueduct. Wine list was excellent with great selection from all Spain regions. We picked a reserve... More

Watching the traditional cutting of the pig with a plate and the ceremonial throwing of the plate on the floor in celebration was truly a unique experience for all of us. We had a table with a view of the aqueduct, which was an added bonus. The food was great!

very friendly restaurant, they give you a handmade wine cup as a free gift. and the owner is very nice. food is excellent. if you drive, you have to park at a city public parking underground, which is just near to the restaurant in 2 minutes walk only.

Traditional Castilian kitchen in one of the most traditional restaurants. Candido has a splendid long history passed from generation to generation that you can Google. However they don't just live from their name. Instead they give their best every day! Be sure to try the pork!

El Meson de Cándido is located next to the famous Roman aqueduct in Segovia (1 hour by train from Madrid @ 12 euros). This is a fantastic restaurant and a favourite with celebrities and famous people. It is not expensive. It's menu (mainly) features suckling pig (cochinillo) as you will not find it anywhere else in Spain. This "asador" is... More

What is one to do in Segovia? It's a lovely city alright with bags of Castilian flavour. Plenty of sights to visit including the massive Roman aqueduct. Well ladies and gentlemen, sitting right underneath it is great building and rather famous restaurant. We booked early in the day and arrived at lunch time. Senor Candido, the youngest, greeted us warmly... More

We made the reservation through internet and we emailed them to let them know about some changes and they responded helpfully and they also gave us suggestions for the city. When we got there we ordered the traditional Cochinito and some entreés. We were greeted by the owner and he later came to our table and nicely talked with us... More
