Wanting to have a great "cochinillo" dinner (roast suckling pig, for which Segovia is famous), we chose Candido based on its "best" recommendation in our tour guide book. Without doubt the roast suckling pig was very good, but that's about the best I can say about the experience. Sitting at the base of Segovia's marvelous Roman aqueduct, Candido is in... More

The building and the setting if the inn is phenomenal. The woodwork, tiles and photos were beautiful. Personally greeted by the current Candido and placed at the most wonderful table just below the agueduct (thanks to Jose and Mel) we had a truly memorable meal. The Iberico ham to start and the soup with chorizo and beans was the perfect... More

The master chef showing how to cut the pig with a plate is such an amazing show. And the pig tasted so good. the lunch served with soup, the pig, dessert and drinks really value for money. the restaurant itself if a tourist spot too. Must go.

Meson de Candido DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Quite the contrary, I loved every inch of this Inn from the outside to the interior. The warm and cozy ambience is personified in the likewise warm and personable scion of the family who greets each one who enters with that Old World charm that brings a smile to ones face. AND, if that... More

After having fallen in love with roast suckling pig at Madrid's famous Sobrino de Botin a few years ago, we were excited to read about Meson's presentation of this dish which we would enjoy on our trip to Segovia. Because of the great reviews from travel writers and reviewers on various websites {including this one}, we overlooked some obvious warning... More

For the character of the rooms, the wonderful sense of tradition, sure, go. But the food is nothing special, honestly, and the staff are inhospitable. Despite not listing wine vintages, the bottle I ordered was unavailable from the list. It was a famous marque. In all, a really disappointing evening that could simply have been saved with a smile and... More

First off, the food is indeed delicious. The suckling pig (cochinillo) is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Other dishes are very well cooked as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very special: faux historical, with plenty of reminders of the place's renowned visitors. The scion of the family owners greets you personally. Having said that,... More

Everything was good, the owners involved in the business grant everything goes smooth, including touristic tour inside the meson and pictures with the owners themselves. A pity that the pork is cut with the plate (which is after that broken to show that the plate was not a fake) only if a whole pig is ordered.
