El Meson de Cándido is located next to the famous Roman aqueduct in Segovia (1 hour by train from Madrid @ 12 euros). This is a fantastic restaurant and a favourite with celebrities and famous people. It is not expensive. It's menu (mainly) features suckling pig (cochinillo) as you will not find it anywhere else in Spain. This "asador" is... More

What is one to do in Segovia? It's a lovely city alright with bags of Castilian flavour. Plenty of sights to visit including the massive Roman aqueduct. Well ladies and gentlemen, sitting right underneath it is great building and rather famous restaurant. We booked early in the day and arrived at lunch time. Senor Candido, the youngest, greeted us warmly... More

We made the reservation through internet and we emailed them to let them know about some changes and they responded helpfully and they also gave us suggestions for the city. When we got there we ordered the traditional Cochinito and some entreés. We were greeted by the owner and he later came to our table and nicely talked with us... More

The most famous dish in Segovia is "cochinillo". I guess this restaurant is one of the most famous ones here. This restaurant is just next to the aquaduct. With the great location and the fame, we chose this restaurant and we did have a great lunch there. We ordered cochinillo and merluza. The meat is tender and tasty. After the... More

I had three meals there (two dinners and one lunch). Outside seating was phenomenal. Food was excellent, service was great. The roast suckling pig was very juicy, delicious. Soup was great. I ordered local sausages for lunch and was not disappointed. The performance given by the Chef showing how to cut a pig was very much entertaining. Bottled Vino de... More

Wanting to have a great "cochinillo" dinner (roast suckling pig, for which Segovia is famous), we chose Candido based on its "best" recommendation in our tour guide book. Without doubt the roast suckling pig was very good, but that's about the best I can say about the experience. Sitting at the base of Segovia's marvelous Roman aqueduct, Candido is in... More

The building and the setting if the inn is phenomenal. The woodwork, tiles and photos were beautiful. Personally greeted by the current Candido and placed at the most wonderful table just below the agueduct (thanks to Jose and Mel) we had a truly memorable meal. The Iberico ham to start and the soup with chorizo and beans was the perfect... More
