Terrible food and service

I go to Spain a few times per year, and this managed to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Don't be deceived by the view - the convento san Esteban just across the road is gorgeous. Right opposite the Convento de San Esteban, this place is a delight. We went for coffee and came back for tapas. For anyone who hasn't quite got the hang of tapas, this is where to learn. The fixed price cost of a glass of Rioja and three tapas, explained on the menu in various languages, is reasonable and the generous... More

We appreciated the excellent service of Juan Jose de Andres whose competence not only as a waiter but as an acquaintance of England, including the Premier League, came as a big surprise! It was wonderful talking to him and sharing many an anecdote that made both the meal and the atmosphere such an experience. At a time when everything is... More

We had the house white and several tapas for dinner. All of them were excellent. The chocolate lava cake was one of the best I've had. Service was nice and friendly. The view from the outdoor tables great. Good value.

I've eaten dinner, breakfast, and lunch here. The wine is excellent, and the food is very good. My salad with prawns was incredible--with fruit and cashews. The prawns must be a good 4 inches in length. The staff are very pleasant and patient with my Spanish. They're very generous with the free Wifi time. They also have a TV set... More

While the vast majority of places we eat while traveling tend to be very good to excellent (mostly due to good research ahead of time, asking local opinions, reasonable experience evaluating restaurants on the fly, etc.), there always seems to be one restaurant that doesn't quite make the grade. For this trip it was Cafe Dominicos. We were heading out... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel but we were charged 32 euros for a very ordinary paella. We were also charged for bread we did not touch. When we queried the cost of the paella, the owner just turned his back on us. We have had some magnificent food during our five weeks in Spain and have... More

This cafe was recommended by our hotel. Our major complaint was with our bill. My travelling companion and I ordered paella which was listed on the menu at 16 euros. We have been travelling in Spain for 6 weeks and our experiences have been that the portion is usually for 2 people and priced accordingly. 16 euros seemed on the... More

This is not just a cafeteria that sells ice cream on a much-visited plaza – this is an ice cream parlour institution that serves drinks, meals and tapas too. The menu is imaginative and affordable. The wines and beers are standard. The service is fast and friendly. But for me it was the range of ice creams and the variety... More
