good for a simple lunch

not special, average food and service, we ate here because many other places were closed at Monday, it is a relatively cheap place and one can eat outside

Salamanca has so many spectacular options for tapas and paella. Cafe Dominicos is not one of them. The tapas are not bad, but only mediocre with so many other options. The restaurant survives on location alone. There are beautiful views when sitting outside. The service is abysmal, even by Spanish standards. Our server had a hard time remembering what we... More

We made the mistake of stopping in for breakfast this weekend. It was packed with tourists, which should have been a tip-off there. The locals all go to a cafeteria just down the hill or a little restaurant around the corner. They were busy, but severely understaffed, with one waiter handling inside and out. The menu is straight-forward, which should... More

This was the best meal we had during our fortnight in Spain. We stopped off at this quiet little restaurant but were told the kitchen didn't open till 830 pm. But the ones on the main street all seemed rather loud and franrtic, so we had a red wine and waited while working out what to order. You get 3... More

The very first thing you'll notice when you arrive are the unbeatable views of the St. Stephen cathedral. The restaurant is located in one of the best areas of Salamanca. Inside, the atmosphere is, most of the time, soothing - there's always jazz or bossa nova playing in the background - perfect for reading, having a chat or even for... More

I go to Spain a few times per year, and this managed to be the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Don't be deceived by the view - the convento san Esteban just across the road is gorgeous. But sit outdoors and you'll be exposed to foul smells from the drains, a swarm of flies and the constant noise... More

Right opposite the Convento de San Esteban, this place is a delight. We went for coffee and came back for tapas. For anyone who hasn't quite got the hang of tapas, this is where to learn. The fixed price cost of a glass of Rioja and three tapas, explained on the menu in various languages, is reasonable and the generous... More

We appreciated the excellent service of Juan Jose de Andres whose competence not only as a waiter but as an acquaintance of England, including the Premier League, came as a big surprise! It was wonderful talking to him and sharing many an anecdote that made both the meal and the atmosphere such an experience. At a time when everything is... More

We had the house white and several tapas for dinner. All of them were excellent. The chocolate lava cake was one of the best I've had. Service was nice and friendly. The view from the outdoor tables great. Good value.

I've eaten dinner, breakfast, and lunch here. The wine is excellent, and the food is very good. My salad with prawns was incredible--with fruit and cashews. The prawns must be a good 4 inches in length. The staff are very pleasant and patient with my Spanish. They're very generous with the free Wifi time. They also have a TV set... More
