Nice and cool restaurant in the city center. Young friendly staff. Three course menu, only three options for each course. Everything fresh, original and tasty. I was on a business lunch and didn't get to see the check, but I think it was average. Everyone on my table was pretty satisfied with the food. Excellent coffee. Highly recommendable.

A previous review commented on the unacceptabity of a fairly complex menu being available in Spanish however I would go further and say that when a ten word description in the menu is dismissed by the surly staff as "beef" you really are left to your own devices to try and navigate your way to something desirable. We played safe... More

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last night at El Alquimista. It was an enjoyable experience. It proved to be a great choice for our special night. There was only one other table occupied when we arrived at 9:30pm. Spaniards eat really late. Despite the volume of available tables, there seemed to be an expectation for... More

Fancy food. The restaurant is open reduced hours and it is quite inflexible. Unfortunately, The waiters and the owner are very haughty and give pert answers.

Following Tripadvisor recommendations, we ended up in this small nice restaurant. It took us a little while to find as it is outside the touristic area, but it was worth the visit. We tried the tasting menu, and each dish was perfectly prepared. Service almost perfect, and the food was simply sublime.

we chose the restaurant following tripadvisor reviews … the food was ok… however for a famous restaurant in salamanca it is not acceptable not to offer an english translated menu since the personnel speaks almost no english and it is difficult to communicate….everything we tasted was nice however, we had better dinners in spain…generally recommended...

I was spending 1 week in Salamanca for learning Spanish (still, review in English:)) and wanted to have one good meal after many "student" meals. I was following the recommendations in TA and was not disappointed. I arrived at ~20:30, Thursday, alone. the place was EMPTY. I was asking if I can have a table and they were checking it... More

The tasting menu at 36€ is indeed a deal. Especially enjoyed the calamari perfectly cooked with a tasty thai citronella-laced sauce. Our monkfish was also absolutely perfectly fresh and impeccably cooked. THe porc main course was less successful to our French tastes. The wine list was full of half bottles which was very welcome. The service was kind and attentive'... More
