Good not great

Had some tapas here and it was very good. Nice selection. I enjoyed the blood pudding a lot. The wine was ok. I think he gave us some that was open for awhile. Neat inside. Very old & neat to hang out in.

The tapas are excellent, with special mention to the mushrroom with jamon one. The prices are the best we've had in Spain: 0.6 euros per glass of beer, 1.7 euros per tapa. Excellent value!

This bar has everything you could ask for. Good service , great wine , excellent"tapas" and the indoor dining service is great. I especially recommend the tapas or pinchos as they are called. They have a wide range of products for all tastes. Everything we tried was amazing. Very well displayed at the bar you just show them which ones... More

It was our last night in Madrid so eight of us decided to dine within the Plaza Mayor. We chose the Meson Cervantes, a good a place as any, within the square. The internal décor and wooden beams made a lovely atmosphere. They were very busy and unfortunately there were no tables available overlooking the Plaza, which why we came... More

There were normally tables on the plaza but because of the concert we ate in the restaurant upstairs. What a surprise and pleasure. The old wood beam ceilings attested to the centuries of the existence of the building. Service was excellent and we had a table with a window overlooking the plaza. Food was excellent and the gazpacho was fantastic... More

Meson Cervantes in the Plaza Mayor was from a different guidebook to my other dining review. Both the bar and indoor dining area were upstairs. This had bags of atmosphere and attentive service, friendly but not familiar. I had a window table overlooking the floodlit square. The menu was varied for all tastes. Enjoyed a very good half bottle of... More

We were seated promptly in this restaurant, and from the upstairs window the views were spectacular of the Plaza Mayor, but unfortunately the food let it down. We won't be back

Came here for an early dinner and we weren't disappointed. Immediately seated and served. Sat outside (of course!) and enjoyed the late afternoon atmosphere. Food was quick, good, and staff were very helpful and friendly.. Be sure to stop here.

I have visited this place many times over the years. It has never failed me. The food always exceeds expectations, the wait staff is attentive and the prices are reasonable for the quality and being in a mail tourist spot. The view is as good as it gets in the best spot in the Plaza Mayor, looking towards the main... More
