Seafood paradise

Not to be missed! This place has it all...delicious fresh fish and a terrific atmosphere. Locals and visitors fill this small, fairly insignificant looking place and with good reason - fab food. Given the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, we were a little disappointed with the food. Also the place is very small and the tables are very close to each other. Perhaps we were unlucky with our choice of fish dish because the place was full.

Great place for seafood. It is a small place, which you may not notice on your. Come early to get a table. You will not be disappointed.

We went to this place on recommendation of a local. Being slightly on the late side for lunch, we had to wait for about half an hour, the waitress took down our mobile phone and called us when a table freed up. At that time we had the first glass of wine outside and nibbled on the snacks from the... More

I had dinner at the Bar Marucho one night in mid-May and appreciated the wonderful freshness of my meal. The restaurant was full and the bar packed, creating a lively atmosphere. I was fortunate that a couple left just as I arrived; after that, the line grew outside the door. My server managed an interesting balance of brusqueness and friendliness:... More

We were looking for a seafood restaurant away from the waterfront. We read about Bar Marucho on tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The sopa de mariscos (seafood soup) was incredible with big pieces of shrimp/prawns in a delicious broth. Also very tasty was the calamari in ink sauce with rice. The menu can... More

We had a lovely meal in this place. We order as a starters oysters, baby crayfish (spanish "cigalas"), barnacles (spanish "percebes") and clams in sauce. As a main we order "machote" fish (white fish). We had a lovely house white wine perfect, match perfect with the food. We finished with a couple of desserts, spirits and coffee. Everything was absolutely... More

My sisters and I had a great time in this tiny restaurant last night. We ordered mussels in tomato sauce, battered anchovies and squid cooked in ink with rice all accompanied by a bottle of Rioja. Everything was very fresh and perfectly cooked, but the black squid was definitely our favourite. By 9pm the place had a long queue of... More

What an amazing place. They turn out dish after dish of delicious fresh fish from a tiny kitchen, served with smiles and good advice - we we warned that the main courses were best between two as we were also ordering starters. Highlights were goose barnacles, flattened and fried anchovies as starters and the hake and lemon sole main courses.... More
