A Tasting Menu to die for !

While we were in Santander for 5 nights I read online in the Telegraph that El Sebal was worth a visit. It certainly was. My son and I went on a Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm opening time and had a tasting menu. Now you don't go here on a budget but the food was first rate and the Iberian Pork... read more

It really is hard to find! Set in what looks like a council estate, this is a bit of a gem, if slightly odd on many levels. Worth a punt though!

A hidden gem which was a nice treat on our trip to Santander. We went for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed with the food in any way. The menu had a few choices with a 4 course with matching wines for 50 Euro's was our choice. This was a four course set lunch and even though my wife did... More

When I arrived at the restaurant, I thought I was about to enter an appartment complex in the middle of the Santander urban area. The outside is dull and unimpessive. I tried to enter through the wrong door, and finally got to the right door, where I was greeted and taken to my table. After a long day of travelling... More

Lovely food. Wonderful octopus. Great hake. Teriyaki pork done rare. And a rice pudding desert to die for. The restaurant lacks a little ambience (no soft furnishings) but the service is professional. The location's slightly dodgy and a bit disconcerting for a Michelin starred venue. Don't be put off though.

I booked a large group to eat at el serbal a few weeks ago. I arranged the reservation by email. It wasn't the easiest restaurant to deal with. I booked two other restaurants around the same time for the same large group: atriun and canadio - these were much easier to deal with. El serbal were very inflexible in the... More

I am sorry to say, I had expected more. We had the 7 servings tasting menu but none of the dishes gave us the wauuw effect, we have had so many times before on first class restaurants. The food was OK but that is nothing to be surprised of on a restaurant with a Michelin star. In the country I... More

Seventeen of us ate here with good advance booking in early Ocober. It was the last evening of three in Santander. A rather severe ambience with mediocre service though the English speaking chef was charming. Starters of monkfish ceviche (mostly fish skin) and melon and ham resembling baby food. Mains of beef cheek ok but rather ordinary and dorado which... More

My husband had the seven course tasting menu with matching wines and I had the four course tasting menu with matching wines. The food was very good and the service very professional. We thought that we got good value for our money, especially given that El Serbal is a Michelin starred restaurant. However, I could not award this restaurant five... More

Went to sample top notch food in Cantabria in a Michelin star restaurant but !! Booked for 8.30 -early for Spain - but we were the only two there all night and we left at 11 ! Food was ok - just - and service mediocre so not worthy of a STAR ! Much better available at half the price... More
