This restaurant was recommended both by a guide book and friend from Santander and I honestly don't know why. Perhaps we should have been worried when we went there for dinner but the waiter asked if we wanted a table 'para picar' i.e. for snacks rather than a meal. Honestly I think this is a place to go to to... More

Food was really tasty and typical of Spain! The restaurant is an old apotheke, very unique and there was someone playing the piano. The only disadvantage was that we visited on a Friday evening and it was really crowded and noisy.

I go for dinner every year while on holidays in Santander for the last 20 years. Very good food and relaxing environment, specially when there is someone playing the piano. Too busy some times.

We decided we had to come since it is supposedly the oldest bodega in Santander...felt a great ambiance when we got in but that was it...Not really much of a wine selection to start with..,the food was nothing to brag about...my advice: go to another place or, better yet, wait until you get to Bilbao's old town (just an hour... Our group of 6 hungry lads found this place the previous evening after we had eaten but decided we would eat there the following day. We arrived at 23:00 and had to endure a short queue to be seated at 23:30. The queue grew longer after we had sat down. The place is a little crazy - rough and ready... More

We only had drinks - a splendid sweet red wine called Mistela - but the service was good, the price fair and the environment inspiring. On the whole a great place for an interesting pitstop!

Centrally located, it is a relaxed place to have dinner and not too expensive. Best to order several dishes to share. The anchovies were quite good.

As others have mentioned the menu is limited with an emphasis on fried food. The menu has charcuterie, pates, cheese, asparagus, tinned & cured fish and fried items. The croquetas and morcilla were delicious, but the food tends to be on the heavy side. Portions are huge and so it's very good value for money. For a bodega there was... More

First day in Santander, we got hungry too early for spanish dinner time. Went to Conveniente when they just opened the kitchen (7pm). Despite the place was completely empty and no music (the waitors probably could hear us chewing and swallowing food), we very much enjoyed croquetas and morcilla. Went there again on Saturday night (this time late enough, 10pm)... More

Yuck. What can I say, the service was pretty horrible (and we speak Spanish), the menu is extremely limited (essentially chorizos, cured meats, cheeses, croquetas and preserved asparagus), and my mother and law and I both got sick from an evil croqueta de jamon. All, not kid friendly at all, both in terms of attitude and menu choices. Suppose this... More
