Really old fashioned place in the middle of the old city centre

Loved the ambiance. Waiters very good, spoke some english (and french and German). Happy for you to share starters and to advise you if you wanted to know more. Full of Spanish, mainly business people wandering in at 2:30 for lunch (bit late for us english!). Noisy, atmospheric and good food. Loved... read more

I travelled to Santander in May with a group of friends. We wanted to discover somewhere traditional and special for our last night. The exterior of Bodega Cigalena caught our attention first and the rustic authentic vibe of it. We were early, so made a note of the opening times and went to enjoy a drink harbour side first before... More

We went to this bar in the old town three times on our 4 day trip.We were lucky to get a seat at the bar and enjoyed several pinchos and quality wine at very reasonable prices. If you go after 11pm it is quieter.Try the square nearby to start your evening and enjoy the local vibe.

I ate one dinner at the Bodega Cigaleña in mid-May and was very pleased with the meal, service, and settting. I was warmly welcomed into a room walled with wine racks and old wood cabinets, cheered by white table linens and just the right amount of lighting. After a lovely amuse bouche of squash soup, I opted for a delicious... More

Myself and a group of 9 friends visited for dinner and drinks on Saturday evening. The staff were friendly and welcoming, so accommodating. They made a real effort to help with our decisions and also suggested delicious wines! We had a couple of girls with allergies and they did their best to understand and taylor their dishes. I ordered the... More

After wandering around looking for a restaurant that fitted our 'last night in spain' mood we were really excited to wander in to the Aladdin's cave of fine wines highlighted with medieval Spanish delights! We were looking for culture, ambiance and most importantly great Spanish food and we definitely got that here. The waiters were perfect! The language barrier of... More

The language barrier seemed to cause a bit of confusion initially but once we were seated with out menus everything started to look up. On the recommendation of the waiter I ordered a salad. It was light, fresh and full of flavour. Dessert however was the star of the meal. Overall good value for money. Quirky and unique little place.... More

My husband and I stopped here for a glass of wine after dinner and fell in love with the decor. So we went back the next day for dinner and were not disappointed. We had the dining room to ourselves as everyone else chose to eat tapas and have drinks near the bar. We had a very attentive waiter and... More

I really liked this place, specially since it was one of the few ones open at the time we got hungry, which was around 4 and as some of you may know, it is an accomplishment to find a restaurant open during the "siesta" in some places of Spain. I ordered shrimp with spinach and they were delicious, and I... More
