In previous years I have had excellent food from excellent staff here. Now in June 2014 I was forced to go twice and had poor food on both occasions. The new staff have poor waiting skills and little English. My companions were pleased with their food however.

The service at El Horno was consistently good, we went 3 times during an 11 night stay in Ciutadella & on our third visit were given some complimentary drinks before our meal . The food was very reasonable & also excellent, in particular the pork fillet with red wine sauce, so good I had it twice! I would definitely recommend... More

We do not normally visit a restaurant on holiday more than once, as we like to try as many different ones as we can. However we made an exception with this one. Enjoyed both visits tremendously. The choice was not large but varied and well cooked, and good wine list. In particular the menorca cheesecake was worth the visit alone.... More

I had a bad feeling when I passed by on one occasion and the plase was totally empty. Got back the following night for a meal as my husband really wanted to go. Basically the staff (one member of, to be precise) was incredibly rude, the sevice slow and the food average - a waste of time. I was particularly... More

Just read the revues criticising the El Horno - I am not sure they are talking about the same El Horno my wife and I visited. We came across the El Horno after trying 3 different restaurants in the marina and found the El Horno to be excellent. We spent the remaining 7 evenings of our holiday at the El... More

Interesting venue, a bit off the beaten track. Food was excellent. The place was only let down by the attitude of one of the younger members of staff who, working in a tourist city and tourist industry should be more accommodating of the fact that most of her customers will not speak her native language.

We went to the El Horno a few weeks back while on holiday on the recommendation of trip advisor writers. What a horrendous mistake. We were led to a table by a brusque waitress who stank of booze. This is no exaggeration and we were about to be subjected to more later!! We sat down and ordered and had a... More

Just off placa Born so location is very good. Unfortunately the food is not - the fresh fish looked far from fresh and the gazpacho tasted like it came from a tin. Mussels and squid were basic dishes with nice taste but the steak came with horrible thick sauce that overpowered the taste of the meat it self. Not a... More

We visited here late on June 28th, after arriving in Ciudadella after 10:30pm. This cellar restaurant was still quite busy, and we received a warm welcome from the waitress, who later taught me how to say 'Ciudadella' properly. The air temperature was warm too, sweltering, in fact, and the restaurant did not have air conditioning. We began with the most... More
