It was opened in the 70s, as a tavern in the harbour that welcomed seafarers in the early hours of the morning before they went to work. Over 40 years, the family business gains the confidence of its customers and became the meeting place for many, where they could enjoy all kinds of tapas and freshly caught seafood. At the present time Cafè Balear is a highly-regarded Menorcan restaurant and a must visit in the Port of Ciutadella. Here you will find a lively welcoming atmosphere, where you can enjoy dishes based on fish and seafood, freshly caught by our own boat, the Rosa Santa Primera.

Very good food. Service efficient but could be friendlier

Food was delicious. Few options besides fish or meat. The waiters were efficient, but not extremely friendly. The place is very brightly illuminated, which makes it a bit cold. The restaurant is a popular venue for the locals.

Wow, what a transformation. The restaurant has been totally refurbished & it's lovely - nice, light & trendy. The food, as always is delicious & the menu del dia is very good value for money. The staff are very efficient & attentive too.

We dined there two times and chose food from set menu; both times the food was great, staff very attentive and very good value for money. Considering the location, quality of food and service, it is the best restaurant in the port. I definitely recommend it.

The most dependable restaurant I know. Great raw materials and efficiennt and knowledgable staff. Great ambience in a superb location. Not impressed with the new renovation.. preferred it before.. a little too modern but outside terrace is the same.

How sad !! From my point of view, the best fish restaurant throughout southern Europe failed !! This week I have been there twice! The twice within the appropriate book! Lousy service (waiters young and poorly organized) food, except the shrimp which were exquisite, the other very fat (I guess they changed their main cook or buy a different brand... More

Nice food, good menu and reasonably priced. Surly waiters, who barely made eye contact or smiled. They were quick and efficient though. Lovely location on the port side.

Top restaurant. Food, quality ingredients and cooked perfectly. Steak, Minorcan fish stew all very tasty. The wife insists the best cheesecake she has ever had. Packed restaurant, need to book, lots of locals eating here - always a good sign. Friendly staff, best meal of our trip by far

This restaurant is one of three in Ciutadella owned by the same family. They set the highest of standards in all three and their overall approach to staff training, excellent ingredients and professional service ensures brilliant food, wine and hospitality. Cafe Balear serves the best fish we could find but please try their Italian option at Roma and the fantastic... More

An old favourite, beautifully refitted this year.. Professional staff, knowlegeable and welcoming.Delicious three course set menu for 18euros at lunch time.Very good selection - fresh cod , hake , duck and steak were all choices at this price. The starters were delicious, as were the desserts. Beautifully presented , good quality food.
