LA CUEVA - BEST OLD FASHIONED TAPAS RESTAURANT

this is our "go-to" tapas place. we have been going there for over 20 years. quite expensive these days, but always worthwhile. try to book if you are going in "tourist" season or have a large party. go in beforehand & ask for a table in one of the rooms in the back. during tourist season... read more

As a visitor initially and for several years now as locals.... this great tapas bar NEVER fails to be anything but very good...... This family business means the same friendly staff (the women by day & men by night!) and great tapas / service. Prices are really good value and a great atmosphere. Even though it is in the heart... Love the people, the food and the atmosphere. The staff are friendly and enjoy watching you laugh and joke with others you have only just met because you have been sat close together. Whether this is by design or the want to pack as many people in as possible it makes for an interesting evening. Enjoy a few plates of... More

We had dinner in this restaurant the first evening, without a car, we didn't want to be too much adventurous. It was full and the atmosphere seemed nice so we gave it a try. Portions were not big, we ordered some tapas: the prawns with garlic, the octopus, the pepper, other fish and the grilled squid. Everything was really tasty,... More

A restaurant in an old cellar in downtown Palma, traditional tapas go average quality. The lighting in the restaurant partly destroyed the atmosphere. A softer ambient light would have created a much nicer impression. We ordered garlic mushrooms, croquettes and chorizo. The garlic mushrooms were tasteless and can not be recommended. Price level ok.

We found this place on a narrow street very close to the cathedral. Even though it was very crowded, they manager to find a table for us in less than 5 minutes. The downside was that we were sitting at the same table with some other people that we did not know. The service is excellent, they brough our order... More

Great atmosphere and worth the wait - you can book. Service good and the food mostly very good - especially the sea food, which was prepared on the spot. A devil to find though. On a busy narrow street, but look out for La Cueva, rather than Sa Volta!

This basement tapas bar is full of character with a great atmosphere. We arrived by chance as a group of six with no booking and they were very welcoming and managed to find us a table. The food was well prepared and the drinks are very reasonably priced. We almost ordered too much but the waiter told us we had... More
