Third time

Waiting to have dinner until after 9pm is something to get accustomed to, but at least when dining at Matxete it is worth it. My third visit to this wonderful Vitoria restaurant was with my partner and we decided to order something a bit different than the usual amazing chuleta. Being a big fan of... read more

Have been here many times. The food is excellent. Service is more informal than formal for a place of this category, but always professional and pleasant. Probably the best resataurant in the city for quality/price. Try the "milhojas de solomillo con foi" "besugo" and whatever daily/weekly in-season specials they might have. Wonderful wine selection too.

I went with a group of business partners and the food was incredible. Service is perfect and besides, given the quality of the food, the prices are VERY reasonable. The "chuleton" is extraordinary, but the sides, Anchovies, Clams, Iberic Ham and "morcilla" were also excellent. Great wines and the deserts are awesome.

One of the best restaurants on Vitoria gasteiz The best sollomillo that I ate. Good service and friendly atmosphere. It is not a cheap restaurant but the quality is really good. Small restaurant, need to do reservations

You can find there very delicious food and very good vines. I had a fish there which was very well done - soft and tasty. My frinds had another fish (turbot), in menu it was called potrion for two but in my opinion and they can confirn it this portion was not for two at all - even for one... More

In a city with so many great restaurants this is a sensational option. I have been to Vitoria five five or six times and despite having a few favorites I try and explore the other options. After having a wonderful meal here and I very glad that I went exploring. The restaurant is in a nice area and not hard... More

Aitor D told me about this place. Since it was right behind our pension, we ate there the first evening. Business was busy but the waitresses still managed to serve everyone in a timely manner. Our steaks were delicious! To find this place, go up the stairs past the Church of San Vicente Martir and look to the right. Here's... More

If you are looking for good, no-nonsense Basque food, this is a great alternative. Food is not fancy, but good quality and very well prepared. I cannot get the grilled monkfish out of my mind.
