Downstairs a surprise awaits!

There's this little elevator at the street level that smells of disinfectant. It is our introduction to Ikaitz. I don't feel like going 'down there' but my husband coaxes me into taking a peek. So we descend and exit the elevator into a charming, well lit basement restaurant. Some of the walls... read more

We had a very special dinner here with our family. The service was perfect and the food was delicious. We had the set menu, which for 25 euro including wine was an absolute bargain! Don't expect Michelin star or anything but do expect great local food at an affordable price

My husband and I dined in this restaurant last night and had one of our best meals ever. The server was so knowledgeable and helped with the menu in english. We were offered an amuse bouche to start then we had the Iberico ham, then Langoustines and Calamari on a brochette over a salad. For my main course I had... More

This restaurant is very close to where we stay when in SS, Pension Ondarra. Following recommendations we booked via "the fork" facility that is integrated into Trip Advisor - this worked well. The restaurant is in the basement and the dining room has a bit more formal air than most of our other experiences - but it is still friendly... More

Not being "stand and dine" pinchos fans, we were delighted to find this beautiful, small, smart, restaurant in the Gros area of San Sebastian. The food was very fine and served by a wonderfully friendly young woman who went out of her way to be sure everything was perfect. Quite a sophisticated menu with an inexpensive but adequate wine list... More

We were delighted with the recommendation of Ikaitz on our visit to San Sebastián. It offers both a tourist menu and an extensive la carte menu, written in English. The waitress was extremely helpful with our selections. The chef is Paul Bocuse trained. The imaginative presentation of the food is a highlight. Flavours are excellent. We started with roasted vegetables... More

My wife and I ate in this lovely restaurant this weekend. We chose the set menu and had a delicious meal. The foie starter was creamy and smooth, and my steak for main course was just right. It is also very good value. The restaurant became very busy whilst we were there,( Saturday night ), and was full of locals... More

We were staying in the Gros area and this restaurant was recommended to us by our pension. Lucky us because it was a fabulous lunch in an intimate, classy, interesting setting. The only downside was that we visited on the last of our five days in San Sebastian...we'd have wanted to go every day if we'd discovered it earlier. White... More

Friendly atmosphere with a good menu and flavoursome, well presented food. Mostly locals were around and the attentive owner ensured everything was up to scratch. Would visit again.

I'd like to give this 4 stars because my wife and I had a nice evening here but on reflection I think it only deserves 3. There are two waitresses in this restaurant - a very friendly middle aged woman, who did her best to explain the spanish menu in English, and a not so friendly young woman, who pours... More
