Akelare was a very pleasant experience indeed. Not necessarily one of the best gastronomic experiences of my life, but better than many 3* in terms of the all around experience. The view was amazing, overlooking the ocean. The service was very professional as one would expect but with more charm than usual - the main man coming out to chat... More

Much has been said in the previous reviews, if not all. We choose Akalare because it was within walking distance of where we were staying. Went for dinner and had the Aranori and the Bekarki menu's respectively. Each consisted of eight dishes and both were preceded by the same amuse-bouche, which was stunning plate - seafloor - complete with sand,... More

This place was awesome, the design of the restaurant equally impressive as the food. The staff were very attentive, but not intrusive, nor did they to try to over pour the wine. Recommendations of what to drink were fantastic. The food was stunning in its presentation, and the staff wonderful in explaining what the dishes were. You have a choice... More

This is an excellent restaurant with a gastronomic menu . It has a spectacular view and the service is impeccable. The food was excellent, but we personally prefer a la carte type menus, but the food was gorgeous and very good.

Located at the top of a hill or mountain with brilliant sea view, this restaurant is a building by itself. At the entrance, we were greeted by a polite lady who spoke good English. We were ushered to a table overseeing the sea. Another waitress came with the menus and explained to us that there were 3 set menus specially... More

The astonishing level of technical accomplishment at this restaurant is such that, in one way, it feels inappropriate for a lowly diner to pass judgement and yet I think such reticence goes to the heart of my issue with this esteemed establishment - the skills on show are very clever but all too often dishes get lost in over elaboration... This was the final proof. How can this resutaurant have 3 stars? Unbelievable. Ok, great view over the ocean. The waitress was what i would call rude. She didn't look at me once. She read the menu like a robot. I was so close to say: "Look at me while you are speakning, and at least try to look like... More

We try a 3 star restaurant every year. not only was the imagination, presentation and quality of the food we ate wonderful, the particularity is that each person could choose their own "Menu de degustation", normally the whole table is forced to take the same. Unlike French 3 star restaurants, the staff were laid back, and would laugh and smile.... More

Fantastic sea view and setting, menus for gastronomic fare comes in 3 sections, we went for ARANORI menu, some good dishes some bad, the presentation is a bit like The Fat Duck in Bray U.K. we were served with 8 courses, all quite small but well presented. the green peas with asparagus was a waste of time, the beef tartar...
