Untraditional - and not necessarily a bad thing

I was quite surprised after eating here at some of the negative reviews up on TripAdvisor. Yes, it's not a traditional pintxo bar, and yes, it perhaps goes a bit far with the molecular gastronomy (such as the prawn... singular... with cottage cheese and liquorice). However, the majority of the food... read more

Went went on a friends recommendation and the food was fab, particularly enjoyed the fried chicken with mix tape (not listened to it yet!). Pintxos made fresh to order from menu and a bit different. Menus in every language available and helpful staff. Top marks.

Great tasting menus some dishes Michelin star quality. BOOK! Food quality a notch above the rest of the pintxo fare.

This place has gort soul. We booked a table in advance for the super tasting menu. Extraordinary small dishes in abundance without filling up too much! Great service, location and music! The Zombie in the end completed a fantastic meal!

We got many recommendations about this restaurant. Maybe that was the problem. We took the expensive tasting menu and I must say that the "molecular cuisine" dishes weren't good. The taste wasn't good enough, the crab was overcooked and unpleasant to eat, the "skull and brain" dessert had bad taste... The good part - after eating there we decided to... More

We came here for the food but were mightily disappointed by rather poncey, over-priced tapas (we actually thought one dish was one of the 'free' pinxtos you get in some bars: it cost 4 euros). However the vermouth (called Beltza) was a real highlight. Served with campari and angostura bitters and ice, it was a generous serving and went down... More

The pinxtos here average 3.90 Euro and are not very good at all. The prawn with cottage cheese and licorice is horrible and not worth the cost. The prawn tasted frozen then thawed and was so tiny. Much better optios close by for half the price.

Went to this bar on the recommendation of the receptionist at the apartment we stayed. Arrived about 7.40am went to take a seat in the dining area and received a stern 'no, no, no only at the bar' with finger waving from a bossy young waitress setting up the tables. Ok the kitchen doesn't start serving food until 8pm -... More

Went here after it was recommended by a local tapas food guide. The bar itself is very cool and contemporary and has a great vibe atmosphere wise. The food was fantastic and I'd recommend the quail and tempura especially. The service however leaves a lot to be desired. Our waitress was bordering on surly and it partly ruined the visit... More

This bar stood high on our wishlist to visit in San Sebastian. And for good reason. The interior feels like a rock n roll bar or motorcycle club hangout. We tried the tasting menu witch is served in the backside. We were overwhelmed with course after course of funny, clever and most of all very tasty pintxo's. Including a miniature... More
