Lived up to expectations

Borda Berri seemed to crop up every time we researched places to eat pintxos, and we now see why. Each small plate we tried was absolutely superb, consistently very different from anything else we tried around Donostia whilst keeping rooted in Spanish cuisine. Get there early around 7:30pm because it get's busy by 8pm food is great what every you try. From pig ears to the tenderloin. Food comes out hot and fresh, Try the octopus not the typical chewy octopus that you get in a sushi bar but taste like fresh scallops from the sea. Mine and my wife's favorite pintxo bar.... More

Borda Berri is open from 1pm so it was a good idea to have pintxos at lunch time as it would be impossible to try all the good pintxos bars if you confine yourself to evenings only. They don't display any food on the bar counter but you order food from the blackboard (see my photo) and it's all prepared... More

Don't miss out on the veal cheeks, the peppers stuffed with veal cheeks and the cheese risotto. All served up efficiently by the young lady behind the bar who somehow manages to juggle (and remember) 20 people's orders at the same time.

Many people from around the world must have heard of the wonderful food experience in San Sebastian. I generally do extensive research to make sure a place is worth going to. Because of fellow trip advisors and other locals recommending Borda Berri, this tiny bar was packed with people - I don't blame the waitress for feeling impatient or annoyed.... More

We had trouble getting service during our first visit so we decided to go back on opening and we were able to get food. They only do ordered pintxo's and have none on display. Try the veal and the cheese risotto. We had to go back for the risotto a second time!!

I might describe this as a traditional bodega in a row of others. There are many rows! Miserable lady behind the bar, yet in her defence she must have met many drinkers many tourists and many foreigners, hey, it's just a job isn't it, why bother! Dark uninviting surroundings. Freshly cooked food was good, squid and goats cheese in particular,... More

The food looks good but it's just a bunch of tourists waiting for the orders to be served. Not very authentic. Go if you want to mingle with other backpackers.

Great experience on our first night in San Sebastian. Tried several pinxtos. All cooked fresh and so tasty. Also good selection of wine. Great vibe. Once visited you may not wish to go elsewhere!!
