Etxanobe restaurant is amazingly sited above Bilbaos second iconic building, the gleaming Palacio Euskalduna. The post-modern dcor of the two dining rooms one of them available for private hire features a fabulous ruched fabric ceiling, wittily skirted lighting, white linens and seating, and unforgettable views over the estuary and the Guggenheim from the terrace. Great taste, average service

For the first time in a restaurant with Michellin star. Great ambient, warm and pleasant. The food and the mixture of different tastes was really delicious. We dicided to take the Chef Menue - what a great choice. At the beginning the Chef welcomed us, and we thought that the quality of the... read more

Dinner was ok, nothing special but the service was good. I had a mixture of shell fish for a main course that was served in a very gelatinous broth; the broth would have been nice except for the weird texture. I don't think that I'd go back but it was worth a visit.

We were a party of three we decided to go with the tasting menu with wine pairing. 12 courses plus 5 different wines. Have to say that I absolutely loved 5 or 6 of the dishes and 1 out of 2 desserts and three wines. The first two are a lipstick made of Sardines, you'd say is a bold proposition,... More

There is very little to add to what others have said about the quality of this restaurant. Service, food and wine were what one would expect at this class of establishment. All the courses were beautifully presented, and the wine recommendation perfectly matched the food from beginning to end. The atmosphere was welcoming and calm, moderately busy, but not bustling,... Some whimsey in the food and presentation, but the flavors were excellent. The chef spends time with the diners, visiting the tables frequently on a modestly full evening; he even suggested the wine. It was a great dining experience.

We went to celebrate my Mums 70th and what a place to celebrate, the staff were attentive, informative and all too happy to help! I find when you are made to feel welcome the food becomes that little more enjoyable. As we sat down the owner introduced himself and we asked him what dishes he is most proud of and... More

Was sold by the generally positive reviews on Tripadvisor. While the food was interesting (lamb, hake, garlic soup, wine choice and deserts were great, signature starters and prawns were less so), overall experience did not live up to expectations. Atmosphere and surroundings were dull and service hurried and uninspired. Yes, the owner does come and briefly explain the menu, but... More

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and went away with one of the best food experiences ever. I admire the creativity and thoughtfulness which went into every dish. Each piece of food had a story to tell. Not only the food, but the service was wonderful. We felt pampered without the cloying servility you sometimes get at some... More

Incredible restaurant ...went for the 88 euro 12 course tasting menu and started with some lipstick and ended with a nitrogen orange cream.Service was superb and the owner and cook Fernando even came and talked to everyone..I thought this restaurant was incredible value and i will remember it for a long time.
