Food was good. First plate was amazing - black rice dish. Second dish (duck) was ok. Too chewy. Service was terrible. Felt ignored and too slow. Had to keep flagging staff down to place order, get water, our bill etc. Restaurant itself is beautiful. Presentation of food beautiful. Glad we went and checked it out. Wouldn't go back though. Bascook had fabulous food and a fun environment. We ate as a couple, and the prices were reasonable for a "nice night out". A must-go if visiting Bilbao.

The staff was super nice! We went for lunch on a weekday and they had the most amazing lunch menu! It was delicious and the place is beautiful!

It was the best restaurant we've been to in Spain! We tried the black rice; rice cooked with the ink of squid and pieces of squid served with fried eggs, cod fish and fried skin of fish with kind of green beans and a yummy sauce. It was surpisingly good! Shrimp risotto, cod fish with pil pil sauce was better... More

Great atmosphere, good pricing for well done food. I wonder how come this place has also bad reviews. We were very happy with the food and the service; that stands higher than overall service quality for this country. Creative menu formation, tables not on top of each other, space kept for guest privacy, elegant but not over done, relaxed and... More

We went here mainly because the guide book said they included vegetarian options - and were overwhelmed by the quality of the meal! We went for the Menu del Dia equivalent (doesn't differentiate between Primeros and Secondas - you just choose two dishes from the wide range, doesn't include drinks) which made the meal good value, but even at full... A great dinner out. We had a recommendation from the hotel as we were looking for fun funky with good food. That's what we got. The food was interesting without being pretentious and they even split our portions as we told them we wanted to share - felt like a tasting menu in a Michelin starred restaurant. Dessert was AMAZING... More

Couldn't get into the Guggenheim Bistro, but they suggested here... We had: Vegetable tempura - the lightest most perfectly cooked battered veg I have ever eaten! Hummus burger - nice, but not as good as the tempura. A deconstructed tortilla - oooo interesting, with foam and stuff, bring me more tempura.. Spring Rolls with a carbonara type cream - very... Aitor Elizegi is one of the more renowned chefs of Euskadi and the new Basque cooking. Bascook did not put his renown on display during our recent May lunch. Arrived early to get a table and chatted with the celebrated chef at front desk. Menu shocked a bit with cost of the comida - about 23 euro but wine extra... More

Enjoyed a marvellous evening out chez Bascook. Impeccable and charming service (no problems with English), exciting dishes to choose from, very decently priced for this truly special ambiance. Would visit again any time! Thank you, Bascook!
