A great first experience of tapas

You must go into the old quarter for a tapas tour. This one as well as the Victor Montes are tucked away in the Plaza Nueva, a quiet courtyard. Great range of pintxos (but mostly with homemade mayo). Don,t forget every bar has a different choice. We ate 12 between us there (28 euros including... read more

On our 1st day in bilbao we had a fabulous tour with one of the bilbao greeters. We were taken around it city finishing in plaza nuevo. As it was lunchtime ( 2.30 in Spain !) We wandered around looking at all the different bars and happend across this one as the menu del dia suited us and looking through... More

Walk into this restaurant and you might feel that time machine has brought you back to the 60s or the 70s. I was kinda pressed for time and wanted to try some pintxos before leaving Bilbao and I visited this restaurant before making Plaza Nueva my last stop. The restaurant was pretty much busy with the locals, and I was... More

Situated in the old plaza Nueva, this old restaurant is definitely a throw back to the old days. Interior tables with crisp white linens, small, cozy, with an upstairs room just as quaint. The outdoor terrace is not as quaint, but it allows for great people watching. We ordered a la carte (in English). The duck with wine sauce was... More

It is not often that you find a little "out-of-the-way" restaurant in the middle of the "old city" within a fairly, and surprisingly big, city...in this case Bilbao, Spain....what a fantastic surprise. As we four walked into Plaza Nueva, there it was. RESTAURANTE VICTOR. We entered the door, and there we were in a cozy bar with a few tables...then... More

We must have arrived at the wrong time - before the lunch menu and table service was available. We ordered from a small selection of tapas at the counter and they were put in a plate and handed to us where we took them to an available table. The staff acted as though we were disturbing them, so not a... More

Make sure you choose something that is in the menu!!!! We asked for chuleta which is typical here never thinking that they would rip us....charged 47€ for 1 dish...on top...nothing special...with all the great place in Bilbao I would not recommend this place at all.

A traditional restaurant in the old town central square. Traditional local food well cooked - we had starters that included stuffed peppers and main courses of Hake and Sea Bass. The service was great with help choosing (in English) suitable dishes and wines. It cost us about 50 Euros a head all in.
