Nobody spoke english...

We had a “special” evening with excellent food, but none of the employees (waiters or headwaiter) could speak a single word of English. We had questions about the food, but nobody could help us. They had several large business groups that did not make the atmosphere great….

The restaurant is located in the awesome Alhondiga building. An ancient wine warehouse recently renewed by P. Starck. We arrive at 14.00h to this restaurant, maybe with too high expectations due to the comments we read and unfortunately, we were somehow dissapointed. We asked for some Champagne and Cava cups while were waiting for the order but the bubbles were... More

Terrible experience. I was there with a large group for a conference social dinner. The only food that was edible was the jam (jambon, that is of coirse not cooked) and bread. I remember a first dish of puff pastry with mushrooms and cream that convinced me to tell to the waitress that they cound not cook a dish like... More

I was here for a business dinner with a large group, so my comments refer only to this type of setting. Overall they devised a safe but pleasant menu, with excellent produce (cured beef, prawns, mushrooms, fish). A hake was notably very well executed. They accommodated last minute dietary requirements by some guests with grace and skill. Service was very... More

My husband and I had their tasting menu at lunch this afternoon. A 59 Euro bargain...the food was extraordinary.. from complimentary starters, through several courses .. Cod, risotto with wild mushrooms, a tarragon sorbet as a palette cleanser, lamb filled with truffles, .(..portions were large) wine suggestions were spot on. While it certainly wasn't inexpensive, were used to paying 2-3... More

Had dinner with a friend at this location which was recommended to us by a local. The complex where this restaurant is located is very nice (check the ceiling glass pool). The decoration and service are very good. They even have the menu in english. The food is very good but for the price you may find better places. The... More

The Yadiola sits in the second floor of the Alhondiga, Bilbao's civic center designed by no less than Architect Philip task. The restaurant offers elegant dining, made even more special by the artistic environs of the building. Service was what one would expect of any fine dining restaurant. We were disappointed, however, that no one spoke english. It was something... More

We have been during the "semana grande" in this new nice restaurant. The design is really nice and the food good with sufficient flexibility to please kids as well. The chef is nice as well as the rest of the personnel. The evening we have been the place was quite empty, but it was nice anyways. I would reccommend it.

After doing a bit of research to answer the great question of where are we having dinner tonight, finally settled on Yandiola. A nice 15 minute walk from our GHDB hotel (another gem in Bilbao). Upon arrival to the block where the restaurant is located, a pleasant surprise that the location is at a beautiful old building that house some... More

Visited Yandiola during a recent work trip to Bilbao after it was recommended by one of the clients out there. The restaurant is part of the Alhóndiga Bilbao building (designed by Philippe Starck) which is amazing. If you go (to Alhóndiga) make sure you look up as they have a glass-bottomed swimming pool that forms part of the building's ceiling!... More
