Lamb skewers!

After having started our pintxos tour elsewhere, we kept this place for our "mains" as we had been informed about their famous lamb skewers. And indeed they were really good! 2 men are located at the corner of this ancient bar who seem to be slightly isolated(you also have to pay separately) from... read more

Beautiful restaurant. Nice menu for bar items or full dinner. The location is good and the service impeccable. We love the waiter Alessandro. I love to watch him scurry and make sure everyone is served promptly. White table clothes, beautiful tiles and exquisite carved ceiling. Lovely atmosphere!

Beautiful setting to eat a meal but unfortunately the quality of the food was terrible. After reading good reviews of the restaurant we wanted to try it out. We were so disappointed. We ordered the menu del dia which came out in about 2 minutes. The food was clearly pre-made and then microwaved. The steak was chewy and completely over-cooked,... More

We ate lunch there twice and both times it was excellent. There is a fixed daily menu that gives you a choice of three or four starters, main courses and desserts. Water, wine and bread are also incuded in the price. The waiters are very friendly and extremely efficient. Could eat there every day!

We have been there with friends in Easter period. We properly sat down for dinner rather than having pincho as everyone else And we surprisengly discover that this historic place serves delicious foods at a very reasable price. Highly recomended.

Stumbled on Cafe Iruna, hidden round the corner from Abando metro, had rioja and pintos, came back the next day for coffee and stickies, then came back for the midweek lunch, which must be one of Bilbao's bargains. Couldn't fault it, lovely staff, lovely food, great atmosphere. We noticed in march it was full of locals, always a good sign.

This moorish style bar, lounge and dining room must have seen some sights over the years. Its ornate cornicing, ceiling and lovely art nouveau tiles give it timeless dignity to preside over couples, families, tourists, locals and their daily concerns. Excellent pinxtos and not-to-be-missed lamb kebabs, cooked fresh over coals in the bar area.

I have often been to Iruna when I lived in Bilbao but it is some time ago and it was so nice to come back and try - again - their famous tapas and drink a beer to them! Very special atmosphere and so many good tapas! I can recommend it

I first went to Cafe Iruña with Don Sergio Diego Nistal, who happens to know all the best places to eat and drink in Bilbao and Santander. The place is spectacular as it has the decor of the 1920s so its like stepping into the past. The serve meals there but their specialty is wine and pinchos (tapas). They also... More

It's really a pity that this peculiar place, unique symbol of the Mudejar decoration style in town, with wall polycrhrome frescos and mosaics , and blue tile azulejos counter is not responding in terms of food and service to the fame is living on. Situated in a central part of the town, in Abando district , facing the "jardines de... More
