It's really a pity that this peculiar place, unique symbol of the Mudejar decoration style in town, with wall polycrhrome frescos and mosaics , and blue tile azulejos counter is not responding in terms of food and service to the fame is living on. Situated in a central part of the town, in Abando district , facing the "jardines de... More

When you go into this bar you look at the top and you can admire a beatiful roof with marvellous paintings. However the meals are normal. You can eat marvellous pintxos (little sandwiches) in other bars close to it.

This restaurant appears in all if the tour books and reviews as great. The decoration is almohade influence and from 1902. Nice but not so clean. Maybe if we had just had pixtos we would have been happier. We dined, though, in a small dark dining room. The evening menu choices were ok but the food was not very good... More

We spent a lovely hour drinking their house Rioja and nibbling some pintxos. The tiled and painted interior must surely be unique, it must be seen to be believed. Wine by the glass is both ridiculously good and ridiculously cheap, but perhaps the best thing about Cafe Iruna was the outstanding service, efficient, warm and helpful even though the bar... More

This café is a very beautiful place and has a nice atmosphere. However, the price is fair for the high quality of their pintxos

Decked out in Moorish tiles and decorations, we found this cafe to have really good food (fresh fruit salad with ham, roasted chicken in mushroom sauce, and an outstanding San Marcos cake), good service and a bustling atmosphere.

The title does not signify a new form of tripadvisor rating. Three, is the number of occasions we visited this wonderful bar/restaurant on our Four day visit to Bilbao. Admittedly the Cafe Iruna was just a short walk from our hotel but the stunning period decor and internal architecture make this restaurant a must see on any visit to the... More

Was here for a business dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the location. Beautiful old building from 1903 that has been lovingly kept-up, period decorations, and good food. The jamon iberico platters were delicious (though perhaps no different from other restaurants) and the pintxos morunos were succulent. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, but overall it was a nice experience and a... More

My friend and I spent a good few hours perched at the bar here eating pintxos, drinking wine and soaking up the atmosphere. It was full of locals busy about their daily lives and we just enjoyed watching whilst sitting in the beautiful surroundings. The servers were busy so we had to be quite forward about ordering rather than waiting... More

One of the oldest bars in Bilbao (1903). Usually full of tourists and locals. The best Pincho moruno (skewered lamb) in Bilbao. Two different decor: One half of the bar is full of andalusian tiles and old advertising and the other is like beeing in the Alhambra (Granada) due to its neo-mudejar architecture.
