Great food and great service. 3 course meal which was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. It was quite expensive compared to other places locally but given the euro exchange rate to the pound at the moment, was really good value to us. We'll worth it anyway!! There was a really nice atmosphere in the... More

After a hot walk around the town we stopped here for refreshment. Very quick service even though very busy. Authentic inside lots of lovely wood and people enjoying themselves. . . Even locals so this says a lot!! Sat outside in the sunshine people watching, we were approached by a quite a few people selling things but a polite no... More

Ideal stop to experience Asturian sidra. They teach the art of pouring the popular local drink from atop, how to drink it and even let you pour the last drops on the floor (as the culture prescribes). Try the polpa (calamari) - it is superb!

This cider house is on the Plaza Mayor so is easy to find. It's also the one with most customers so you know it is going to be good. The interior is very authentic looking with old wooden ceiling beams and a zinc-topped bar counter. The bar was crowded, even early on a wet February Sunday evening, so we stood... More

You have to come to La Galana when you travel to Gijón, it has traditionally prepared food. The fish is local so you get good and fresh food. Live the spectacular way they serve the sidra. You can have a wonderful time.

Six of us came for Sunday lunch and based on the experience of two who live locally we ordered the rib-eye steaks which were very good indeed. The meal was spoiled by two subsequent incidents. The first was that one dessert - fresh fruit kebabs - came with a bowl of liquid powdered chocolate (like Nesquik) instead of the good... More
