Cosy and busy little Tapas restaurant

Wanted to try this during our stay, but always looked busy. We did manage to get in on our last night although we had to wait 15 mins for a table (we hadn't booked). Whilst waiting we had a beer, but felt in the way as there was not much standing room. My son is a vegeterian so once it... read more

Our friends translated "el fuello" as the bellows, and indeed, bellows were a prominent feature of interior decor. We were told the king ate there often when he was studying at the university. The food was very traditional Aragonese. We loved it.

I ended up in La Republicana by virtue of being hungry and arriving early before Hoppy (the craft beer bar next door) was ready to open after the afternoon siesta period. Great little place - a diner style bar with seats for snacking and a small dining room. The space has a lot of character; old fixtures, vintage bottle and... More

We ordered the 12 tapas deal. It was awful!! They tell you that you cannot choose the tapas and they know why. The whole meal felt like it wad made out from old left overs in fancy decoration. Worst meal in my long visit to Spain.

La Republicana is my favourite tapas bar in Zaragoza. The tapas selection is beautifully presented rather than simply a selection on a plate and has an interesting array of tastes. The interior is a step into history with an amazing collection of photographs and artefacts all around the room. Highly recommended!

I visited here with some mixed feelings. The reviews were a bit mixed, I wondered if having menus in English meant it was touristy. Virtually every restaurant in Zaragoza has menus in Spanish only. (I'm ok with that.) But they are open all day, & I didn't want to have another late dinner since so many places don't open for... More

We had the Huevos de Republica and salade de Pollo. Both tasted great. The wine was a Rioja Crianza (from the house). The interior is cosy.

La Republicana has old fashioned, funky decor. They don't take reservations, so get there by 8:30 or you will have to wait for a table. The tapas can be ordered as an hors d'oeuvre or as a full meal. They are varied, tasty and not just a thick slice of bread with something on it as you find in most... More

We had a great selection of tapas in this evocative and buzzing bar. As good as any we have had in Santander or elsewhere in Northern Spain. Service was good too.
