Cheap and great food

We waited to sit outside just give your name to the water outside if there are no available tables he will write on the blackboard with the number of your party and he will go out of his way to call you even if like us you go and sit in the little park just in front. Good selection of... read more

Extremely affordable and delicious tapas served. Staff are friendly and give you honest answers. Great experience for travelers regardless of budget. I especially recommend the octopus and fried aubergine dishes.

This is a fun, lively, inexpensive place for tapas and a few drinks. We visited many times, given that our apartment was only a block away. They are always crowded, so expect to stand with your drink and a tapa at the bar. The wait for a table is usually 45 minutes - 1 hour, by which time we were... More

It was suggested to us by two other tourists by accident, and we followed their advise, which turned to be very good. I was really enjoyed the quail eggs with chorizo and their wine. Be careful to go relatively early for dinner, because you can not make a reservation and usually after 19:30' there will be a queue for a... More

After a reasonable wait time, we chose to sit at the bar to have dinner. Not only did we enjoy the food, but we became part of the atmosphere as we could see all the action. The waiters even remembered the name we used for the table list. Friendly, bustling and very good food at a very reasonable price.

the food was okay but please do not go out of your way to find it. There are plenty of better quality tapa bars...our favourite was the Bar Alfalfa which is a short walk away but a million miles better. The main redeeming quality of the Coloniales was the young lady serving the people sitting outside...she had a great attitude.

You won't eat the most amazing food you have ever tasted here, but you will eat delicious food, and you will eat it for a little bit of nothing. I strongly suggest the Solomillo al whiskey--get the full ration. You could feed the Duggars at this restaurant for under a hundred euro, and they would all leave happy. If you... More

Los Coloniales is a favorite of many on this site, but it was so crowded and so noisy with only average food, we left very quickly. Two fewer people to take up space from those who like this spot. It was uncomfortably hot, though fans were going. It must be unbearable during the hot season. We ordered punta de solomillo,... More

I love Coloniales. All the way from the wait in the bar after you have given my name to the waiting list, till the sharing of all our favourite tapas, the few new ones and the always very reasonable bill. We always order tapas because the portions are bigger than normal tapas size, and then we get to taste several... More

Our hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant as a place locals eat authentic, non-tourist meals. It is still near the cathedral. We enjoyed a glass of wine, a salad and four tapas. We were quite satisfied and had money left in our pocket. The waiter provided us a glass of Liquor as a digestive enhancer. Very tasty.
