Description: At the foot of The Alhambra one can find the restaurant Ruta del Azafran...
At the foot of The Alhambra one can find the restaurant Ruta del Azafran. It is in the incomparable setting of the Paseo de los Tristes right in the Albaicin, which is perfect for the traveller that loves to soak up history. Our kitchen, surrounded by this extraordinary scenery, can be found in the same mix of cultures alternating between Arab flavors, international foods and the traditional tastes from Andalucia. It's worth to mention our Tuna Tataki, the Cous-Cous (chicken, lamb or vegetable), Duck Magret, Moorish Pie and also undoubtedly our homemade desserts. All of this accompanied by the best local wines, cavas from the Alpujarra mountains and a special selection of Rioja and Ribera del Duero wines. The restaurant Ruta del Azafran offers different menus for groups that are carefully put together by our chef to provide the most exquisite flavors. All of our meats are Halal and we are ready to accept any request with respect to this. We have a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Our kitchen professionals who make up a highly qualified team assemble all of the dishes in the restaurant. We invite you to visit us: to enjoy the surroundings and taste our exquisite dishes.

Heads Above the Rest in Lovely Area

In our opinion, this restaurant would stand out on its own in any location. As it is in an area next to the stream looking up at the Alhambra it was surprising to enjoy such well prepared food - our hosts had noted that the restaurants in this square were pretty bad. My husband had risotto which... read more

Went to this restaurant for my birthday meal. Absolutely amazing. We went as a family and all enjoyed the meal. The food was lovely and well presented, also it was not expensive. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Best food we had in Granada. Ate there twice and wished we had gone back on our third night. Open kitchen, delicious food and very good service. Modern and comfortable atmosphere. Great location below the Alhambra.

We ate at Azafran after our arrival in Granada from Cordoba on Easter afternoon. We were looking for something different than the usual tapas bars and fried fish at the tourist restaurants that are everywhere in Seville and Cordoba. Azafran was a very nice surprise. It has a very nice location and view across the river from the Alhambra. Despite... More

Went here on based on a recommendation. Alhambra views were the best part otherwise a typical touristy place which serves reheated food. Mushroom risotto tasted okay if nothing to write home about. The chicken cous cous on the other hand was pretty bad - dry tasteless chicken and cous cous tasted like ready made kind you buy from a supermarket.... More

It was my second time at this restaurant, the first one was amazing (around 6 months ago)but this one it wasn't as I expected. I don't know if the kitchen staff have changed but it was a shame. We ordered a lamb cous cous as starter and it looks reheat at the microwave, some parts so hot and another ones... More

Friendly atmosphere and welcoming to overseas visitors who want to eat earlier than the average Spanish diner (who often don't eat until 8.30 pm at the latest!). The food was very good and arrived quickly. The menu is "fusion" rather than very Spanish, bu there is a good choice. The view of the Alhambra floodlit at night is stunning.

We are in here on a quiet Monday evening, although we were not the only patrons there at the time. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the ambience was relaxed. We had a window seat with excellent views of the Alhambra a short distance away. The menu was simple, seemingly with little choice, but this detracted from the excellence... More
