If my husband was writing this he'd give it 5 stars as he raved about the food and thought it was the best he'd had on holiday (He had the Moroccan lamb shanks BTW). I thought the food was nice enough, went for the vegetarian options of cheese tart and risotto. It was the last night of the holiday and... More

Although it is in the touristy bit, the food and ambience is really good. They have a modern approach to the classic tapas.

We were in La Plaza for 'Menu del Dia'. It was really nice regional soup, morrocan beef with couscous and pie for desert. Really great meal for 10euros/person. As the restaurant was full only time of service make it only a very good, not perfect visit.

It is rare to find a good and reasonably priced restaurant touristy places such as this. The restaurant is on the Merced square, sheltered from the noise and frenzy of the nearby streets. The English owner did a bit of hard selling as we looked at the menu and assured us it was the best restaurant on the square. It... More

Lovely restaurant in a spacious square. Good varied menu with great choice of salads all of which are delicious.

The folks at La Plaza couldn't be any more accommodating...we arrived at our hotel just after 23.30 and they phoned around to try and find somewhere close by that was open so we could have a late dinner..the Plaza came up trumps. They stayed open until we arrived..served us a delicious selection of vegetarian tapas..accompanied by a hearty bottle of... More

Trip advisor This is our first review; we are compelled to do it! La Plaza restaurant on Plaza de la Mercedes is definitely a 5 star establishment. We spent 6 weeks in Malaga, and it did not take long to realize that we would take a majority of our meals here. Highly efficient kitchen, filling orders quickly. Presentation of plates-... More

Lovely food! Spanish food is often quite bad, doesn´t taste anything and very unhealthy. I found this little pearl by Tripadvisor and took there my daughter, she is vegetarian. We both loved the food, very tasty and everything looked so good. I forgot my Spanish and ordered "vino rosso", I actually meant red wine, but we got wonderful rosé wine.... More

We went here on our second night after reading some of the reviews. Great atmosphere in Plaza Merced and the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. Only problem we had was that they forgot one of our party's order and that person was left eating when everyone else had finished their meal. Could have been handled better as... More

I would have given this restaurant an excellent but for the very slow service on our second visit. Both times the meals were excellent with a very varied menu including a good variety for vegetarians but on our second visit we were left sitting for 20 mins after our main course before the waiter appeared to take aswy the dishes,...
