Food excellent; service average

I enjoyed my John Dory main course very much. The freshness and preparation of seafood in Cadiz is generally of a very high standard and there is a huge variety to choose from. This was a grilled dish, although my fish strips starter was pan fried but still tasted delicious with a mayonnaise dip... read more

Average food, average interior, average service, not worth of visit. Had a better meal in tapas bar near open market, for less money! Ask the locals

pros: location, right across the road from the sea front with views of the sea, fresh beautifully presented food. great attentive service. menu for kids well priced. cons: busy and noisy (in a good way) but maybe not for a romantic dinner. waiter did not speak a lot of English but this really was no problem, he was very accommodating.

The first review I read of this restaurant claimed that it was a student restaurant. Although it's close to the university, it's certainly not a student restaurant. More likely the restaurant that a student would get their parents to take them to when parents visited. The customers seemed mostly to be Spanish - not many tourists. Balandro has a restaurant... Over rated through trip advisor we were very disappointed with what we had in the so called "delicassy of la casa", Bogavante y risotto sin bogavante! Sin embargo hay muchos restaurantes en Cadiz mucho mejor que esto

My wife and I recently ate at Balandro and it warranted a return visit before we left Cadiz. Our first visit involved tackling a wonderful cheese pate, and scampi and clams pil pil as starters. My wife had the vegetarian lasagna which she said was as good as she had ever had. In fact, it was the factor that led... More

Smart but not stuffy restaurant and bar close to plaza San Antonio with lively decorations . Great choice of fish and seafood all at reasonable prices. Fried anchovies were top quality and John Dory & Bream were well cooked although with a few too many vegetables for such good fish. Wine was fantastic value with good choice by the glass... More

The two star rating is by way of being generous. We ate there this week (9th February) and if we had known where else to eat, we would have done so. We were aghast at the prices, which are totally out of line for what you receive. The quality of food served is very poor, below average. We wanted to... More

Terrific seafood with Cadiz Bay view; we enjoyed it so much we returned for 2 lunches! Innovative preparations of 'almejas' (clams), 'rape' (monk-fish), & 'tortilla de camarones' (lacy shrimp delight...unbelievably tasty!). Our waiter cheerfully helped steer us toward menu specialties (Merci, Molod!). Highly recommend!

We visited twice, during our Cadiz stay. We sat at the bar, had very good service, great local wines--and delicious soups, fish, and other tapas. Very good value in a delightful sea-view setting.
