We visited La Encina following the fantastic photos and reviews on here and were very happy we did. We ordered 2 rijoca and 1 sweet white wine, then we had 3 free tapas and 1 to pay for. The total bill was €9.40 for three people! The tapas was fantastic. We ate the 'poor mans dish' of potatoes and fried... More

We did not try the tapas but we went in the restaurant located at the back. Very nice. Lovely and competent service. Very good food - but not for the one who have a little budget.

Just back from a four day visit to Almeria. We found ourselves returning to La Encina every evening. The quality of the food was excellent especially the cod from the menu del dia. The staff were friendly and helpful and worked well as a team which was well organised by juan.

Had a lunchtime "pit stop" and sat outside. Great tapas and the best patatas bravas of our stay. Grilled shrimp were just right and generous for a tapas dish. A nice lunch. Inside the restaurant looked good, if a little small, but was unfortunately closed the evening that we thought to eat there.

Tony who served us was so helpful and friendly and we enjoyed a very leisurely tapas lunch sitting in the sunshine. The restaurant inside was very atmospheric and traditional.

It was my first visit and for sure it won't be the last. The food is very good the service is professional and with a touch of humour which is in my view most pleasant. The menu change every week and is inspired by a Spanish province. When we visit the Encina it was the Rioja Week and as farvas... More

We had drinks and a couple of tapas here and it was very nice and good value for money. Decorated in an old fashioned Spanish/Moroccan style it has friendly staff and beautifully presented tapas. Worth a visit and just round the corner from the Nuevo Hotel Torreluz, where we stayed!

We booked a table for the special menu "mini Cocina" and asked for one gluten free and one lactose free. On arriving we liked the ambiance - very spanish and friendly. The waiter (Toni) knew about our requests and was very attentive (he also sings😄). The salmorejo as a starter was excellent. Wherever possible they used fresh organic local produce.... More

We had the pleasure of dining here on two nights. The food is truly excellent... the menu of the day was 12 euros and is unbelievable value ( eating out in Almeria is not cheap ). The first meal consisted of a nice shared tuna salad then the actual starters, a brilliant hot artichoke dish and the traditional cold tomato... More

After a relaxing morning in the arabic baths (Aire de Almeria), we were able to wander across the Plaza Vieja and into the very welcoming LA ENCINA. For just €12, it included bread, salad and a drink plus choice of STARTERS Migas, Russian Salad or Fideos en Cazuela (a hearty pasta and fish stew) MAINS Boquerones, Fried cod, Cod Balls,... More
