Hearty traditional fare in lively surroundings

This restaurant is in an old inn on the main square of Weimar, and on a drizzly weekday night was packed, mainly with locals. We came here with 7 people for lunch because we liked the look of it and because of the central location. The menu offers a range of typical German and regional specialities. I chose the Thuringian dumplings with wild pig roast. What I got was very dry, tough and tasteless meat and dubious side dishes. The best thing on the... More

The restaurant is in the city center on a small Square. The food was excellent and the service very friendly and professional. The decor gave the place a nice and cosy atmosphere.

We had been recommended a restaurant which was full so fell into this Braueri and were very relieved to find a table. The service was efficient and the food was good.

Very friendly staff. Local food, well cooked and well priced. Not a very wide variety on the menu. No starters except soup.

Stunningly rude and unprofessional service here, not what one would expect in a cultural center such as Weimar. This is a pity and surprising because it has a prime location in the Markt. Not recommended.

Great food, great beer and great location. Well worth spending a lazy afternoon here enjoying the comings and goings of the markt.

The zanderfilet with rahmsauerkraut was delicious and perfectly cooked, but the wiener schnitzel was thick, tough, and over-fried.

As part of a large group of people I watched everyone order the specials of the day, gulash, knodels etc and myself opted for the salad Nizza, a variation on salade Nicoise, a hefty mound of greens, lettuce and the like topped with tasty tuny, capers, olive and some boiled egg, thoughtfully served with a few slices of crushy bagette,...
