Not posh but excellent food and nice people. The food is local and traditional and good value. The service was perfect and if I have time we will go back.
Nice restaurante serving traditional Thuringian food and the delicious Köstrizer Schwarzbier. Ambience is nice; prices are ok. It is usually very sought-after, so it is a good idea to make a reservation. Those who don´t have a reserved table might be seated in large, communitary tables. Not a problem for us, but might not be usual or comfortable for some.... More
My wife and I have been many times at Köstritzer Schwarzbierhaus. Apart from the folkloristic building and, of course, the appealing Köstritzer beer, we always eat well. Service is fast and attentive. The choice of the food is not very large. However nearly everything is delicious. Typical German food, you may have tasty and very fresh salads, or go for... More
Even with reservation, I did not like being seated in a glass add-on dining area that had zero atmosphere. While locals can be seen there, it is popular with tourists. The food was so-so, the service the same; the beer was good, but it is good in many places; overall, it had little to distinguish itself.
Ate here twice on on recent visit to Weimar. Nice welcoming atmosphere in an old half timbered building in the centre. The food is excellent-including the tenderest steak I have ever eaten. Food portions are large, typical Geman menu-prices are reasonable.
Outside you will be in northern, middle Germany; inside you will be amongst a collection of jazz photos and memorabilia that could be just about anywhere. I love jazz, and many of the pieces in the collection appealled to me. But on my first trip to Weimar, I wish I'd picked a place that felt more Weimarian. A msall complaint,... More
The brewary is a heavily restored half-timbered building in a square in the middle of town and is very popular with the locals. We sat outside to eat on a warm May evening and enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer (no longer brewed on-site!). We chose the day's special of stewed rabbit with potatoes and dumplings and one plateful would... More
We had an absolutely delicious meal here of a very high quality. The food was fresh, super tasty and came in huge portions. The beer, although also super tasty, was a side to the fantastic food... Well recommended.!!!
I had an evening meal at this inn in late August. The onion soup was watery with a tiny piece of bread floating in it. However the mains was much better - beef roll with dumplings and red cabbage with a very nice gravy. Overall the restaurant is good value for Weimar, and I'd go again. Just stay clear of... More
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the Schwartzbierhaus. The half-timbered exterior of this restaurant is truly remarkable; I think it is the prettiest fachwerk structure in town. Our meals were typical Thuringen fare, very typical German comfort food. The klos, potato dumplings, were light and the perfect complement to the gravy that came with my braised pork. My wife had...
