Good traditional German food in a

A famous restaurant. I ate in the large dining room where the menu is cheaper than when you turn left into the expensive restaurant having come down from street level. Worth it for the ambiance. Good straightforward German food and beer.Prompt and efficient service.

Lovely atmosphere. Reasonable range on menu. My kids said that the Werner schnitzel was the bet that they had, but not all dishes quite 5 star. Service rather indifferent, which w a trifle irritating. Be warned, credit cards not taken.

I booked the table in the main hall which can accommodate between 50-100 customers. The staff was very friendly and fast. For dinner we had meals from typical menu in Saxony what was very tasty fresh and well made. I strongly recommend this place to enjoy the atmosphere of Bach times from inside

We enjoyed our meal thoroughly with great, friendly service and wonderful atmosphere. I think the biggest reason we came was because it is famous, but it lives up to its reputation. Would come here again and don't believe a trip to Leipzig would be Complete without it.

Having re-visited the renowned Auerbachs Keller I can only quote the fiedler on the roof saying, it is all about tradition. Not only is the decoration and atmosphere kept to the traditional style but so is also the cuisine and service. Other historical places highly charged for low quality should really come to learn.

During our stay in Leipzig we thought that we must pay a visit to the famous Auerbachs Keller as seen in one of Michael Portillo's Great Continental Railway Journeys. We didn't meet Faust or Mephistopheles (I presume they only come out at night) but we did have a good and very reasonable lunch. Great atmosphere and good service - well... More

Auerbachs Keller Leipzig popped out from every website I’ve checked. It is said that Auerbachs Keller is not famous because of his visit, he came because of the following saying: “He who travels to the trade markets of Leipzig without visiting Auerbachs Yard must hold his peace. It proves: He has not seen Leipzig“ If you prefer the more upscale... More

The claim is made that "if you went to Leipzig and didn't go to Auerbachs Hof, then you shouldn't claim you've been to Leipzig". Add to that the claim that Goethe used to visit and you have more than enough reason to try this place the next time to land in Leipzig. The food is pretty typical for the region,... More

Historic restaurant made famous in literature from Goethe's Faust. Statues depicting characters from the book stand on either side of the entrances leading downstairs. There are two restaurants- one formal and one more casual. There are primarily traditional German menu items but 4 entrees specifically identified as vegetarian or vegan along with some soup and salad selections. Wide and reasonably... More

This restaurant has so much history surrounding it that you should go just because of that: Faust and the devil, just to name two. Atmosphere is wonderful--very cellar-like and Faust themed. Dinner is about 20 euros on average, plus whatever you drink. Plenty of food. Mine was way too salty (a pork and sauerkraut stew), but my husband's was fine... More
