Good vegetarian options

The vegetarian menu had several choices, and at least two of them were vegan. Portions are large and the food is very tasty. Service was prompt and cheerful. We ate early and noise was not a problem although many tables were full.

If you want authentic german fare ( actually that´s really what you should want if you´ve come this far : ) Go there ! It is slightly touristy, yes,...it is, after all, a place with some history. But that´s what you come to Germany for, right ? The wild boar or venison is what to go for. Heavy, tasty... The... More

Very German atmosphere, good food for fair prices in a historic place from Goethe's Faust,- a bit loud like a Bavarian beer hall but stylish and good,- not only because of the good food and fast service

Yes, the Auerbachskeller has a long tradition. There are actually two restaurants now, the fine dining Weinkeller and the original Auerbachskeller. We went there on a Saturday evening, no reservation , to have dinner. The, place is enormous- at least 70 tables - so naturally the noise level is high. Waitresses were very nice. Food was ok, nothing really special.... More

Thus restaurant is a must have to see category in all book's, internet, etc. But you can sleep iv you miss it :-). We was wisiting the grosse Keller, where appr. 500 people can eat at once. Amazing how organised the staff and how organised should be the kitchen that everything will work. The food is good, they say that... More

Amazing traditional German food in a great environment. Can get a loud when full but it's part of its traditional charm. Prices are also very reasonable as a tourist (I'm told for locals its rather pricey, but that's because you can get very good and cheap food in leipzig). Definetely worth a visit and I will certainly return! Yummy

This place is very historic - a must see in Leipzig if you're a Goethe fan. The atmosphere is quite special. It's a very big restaurant and the service was very slow. The food is typically Saxon - not my favourite cuisine - but it was well worth visiting.

The restaurant is beautifully fitted out and makes for a very typical german restaurant. There are in fact two restaurants, one offering fine dining and the other a fine quality german menu. We opted for the latter and enjoyed an excellent meal. Good starters of Crayfish and Smoked salmon with Prawns, followed by Schnitzel for me and Zander for my... More

Auerbach's Keller is worth going to for its historical & literary links with Goethe's Faust - the great man frequented the place, indicating its longevity. It is highly atmospheric with depictions of scenes from Faust. We went in the Grosser Keller - the large dining room: there are smaller more expensive restaurants. It's not always easy to get a table... More

It's one of the iconic places to have a meal in Leipzig, and the room is indeed quite special and there's a good atmosphere. Overall though it seems very much geared to the tourist market. I'm glad we've been, but I don't think there'd be much reason to go back. The food is ok, but all the dishes seem a... More
