The place still has the atmosphere you would expect from a location named in Goethes "Faust", dark wood and old paintings on the wall, you can easily imagine Goethe in these rooms. (in fact, he spent lots of time here during his student years) The kitchen is traditional german, dishes like "rouladen", "Klöße" and red cabbage are on the menu,... More

This historical restaurant (2nd oldest in Leipzig, dating back almost 500 years) will please you and satisfy you on a few levels! Quite picturesque, Auerbachs Keller is basically a one-of-a-kind theme-restaurant, popularized by the famous German author Goethe a few hundred years ago, and is true to its name, located in an actual cellar. It has remained popular for all... More

It is not worthy to have lunch or dinner here, the servers are rude and they' re overloaded with work, you will wait for ages for your dish and the server will forget half of your order, for example, if you ask for bread for your soup, it will get deliver by dessert (I AM SERIOUS!). The food is average,... More

Absolutely loved eating here. Cavernous, authentic, historic, exciting place to be - everything you can ask of traditional German food. Sheer pleasure.

We were able to get a table without reservation at 8.30 on a Saturday night, and had a thoroughly good experience. The daily special was delicious and very good value as one of the cheaper main courses available (€13). Service was fine, quick enough and accurate. The place was full of a variety of groups, families, groups of friends and... More

As I was here with guests who had not been to Leipzig we had to go here and try Sachsen / Saxony food. Not impressed at all as the waiter takes away white wine glasses which still have wine in them as we moved to red wine. Onion soup fine, but the rest not up to what you can get... More

Food here was superb, a real experience of German fayre. Gorgeous setting in the old wine cellars, and a really interesting history. Worth a visit!

This restaurant has by far the most AMAZING and IMPRESSIVE traditional German menu, delicious food, and decor. If up to me, I would've eaten here EVERY night during our 8-day stay. No other restaurants came even close in comparison!

Our family of four had a good meal here. Good service, nice atmosphere. The plate of the day was reasonably priced and tasted good. My wife had the onion soup and she was really liking it. Would recommend for someone visiting Leipzig.

The restaurant is always very busy, so you have to book well in advance. Food is really delicious, portions are (far) more than sufficient and everything is well organized. Everyone (a group of 10 persons) got his meal more or less at the same time, although the restaurant was packed and we didn't have to wait too long for it.... More
