Don't bother giving them any tip. It's east Germany, what would you expect?

Traditional German food served in an uebertraditional setting: Goethe discusses the place in his epic "Faust." Had the rouladen, which was very tasty. Worthy trying for the epic setting.

This is an underground beer hall style restaurant. The food is great, traditional German comfort food. Serving sizes are generous and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the food so much we went back twice. Our only gripe was the service, which was a bit unfriendly and brisk. One of the waitresses made us feel a bit like an imposition on her... More

This is by far one of the best restuarants in Leipzig. The four times we have been in Leipzig, we seem to end up here. We have always been able to get in without reservations, though if visiting during a major event, reservations are recommended.

if you are aiming for some classic and traditional German food in a historic and somehow different atmosphere - this is the place to go in Leipzig. They often do have some special offers and as of 2 persons you get plates to the table...

It's in Goethe's Faust, so you can't really do Leipzig without eating here can you? It's a proper institution, and although the guidebooks will tell you that this is touristy, it's only really touristy in the sense that it's busy and famous. The food is very good, with a wide selection of Saxon specialities. The drinks were good too, and... More

Got there on a sold out night and they got us in. As busy as they were service was fast and pleasant, food very good, and good value. Historical spot worth putting on your list for Leipzig.

We walked in without a reservation for lunch on a Monday on a damp November day. There were a number of other diners but we were served promptly and by a friendly waitress. We ordered a few drinks and a very light lunch - soup only - which was delicious! I just wanted to experience the atmosphere and history of... More

Everyone, it seems, visits the Auerbachkeller in Leipzig and our group was no exception. We visited on a Monday evening and we made a reservation for our rather large group. We found the restaurant to be half empty and we could have been accommodated without the reservation. The service was snappy and accurate. The menu is extensive. I chose a... More

We visited in the middle of the afternoon in November on a weekday. It was pretty empty - no reservation required. Service was friendly and quick. Food was good. I had duck, my parents raved about the sauerbraten. The atmosphere was ok. It is a pretty large basement hall that could be noisy if full.
