A group of ca 16 people visited for dinner. The majority of the group was not fluent in German but that is no excuse not to have a sensible system to match the dish to the person who ordered it. The lentil & blut wurst soup (starter) was a clear winner even though the blut wurst was only just there.... More

The name pleplexed us, we were looking for a tunnel or keller which Zill's wasn't Great atmosphere with plenty of traditional Saxon fare, the food quality was good with lots of pork, dumplings & sauerkraut, my wife struggled a little with the menu but enjoyed an excellent Perch/Pike fish dish Attentive service & a resonable bill, 8 of 10

Or meal consisted of 2 slices of a lamb joint that had been cooked and allowed to go cold-then warmed up in some synthetic gravy plus frozen vegetables. The staff were pleasant

We went on a Friday night and sat upstairs as the outside space and downstairs was full. We had a really efficient and friendly waitress and loved the cosy atmosphere here. The food was typical saxony and German fare and really tasty. We really enjoyed our meal here.

The restaurant is very central and is a typical old Saxon style place with German specialities which were good if not brilliant. It is certainly somewhere to go if you want to experience German rather than international cooking. The knuckle of pork with dumplings was delicious although heavy. Large portions and good beer! The service was initially slow and we... More

It's a traditnonal restaurant in Leipzigs gastro street "Barfussgaesschen" and the atmosphere and interieur is still the same than 200 years ago, when the craftsmen came here after work. You find many local, traditional dishes on the menu, but in poor quality, for example, the famous "Leipziger Allerei", a dish made of fresh vegetables, morcheln and cancer meat, we found... More

It was -12C outside, but inside it was warm and cosy. I wouldn't say the staff were as welcoming as we encountered elsewhere in Leipzig, but they were polite and friendly enough and the food and wine was really good - and very the portions were extremely generous. My husband also tried the Gose beer, which has a slightly herbal... More

Although busy at the end of the year, this Saxonian restaurant served all customers with flair and due attention. A somewhat spicy lentil soup combined well with the tasty and juicy “Schweinskrustenbraten” and “Schweineschnitzel”. Good with a glass of beer – what else does one need?

Arriving in Leipzig after a big train trip from Munich and a quick spin around the Christmas markets made us look for something more substantial. Wandering the streets led us to Zill's Tunnel. Wow. I really wanted to try something Saxon so did what all tourists should and asked the waitress to make a recommendation. She gave me a couple... More

Good restaurant to visit for lovely german food. We booked a table as it was very busy the first week of December. The waitress was lovely she gave us an English menu and also explained the specials to us as they were in German. We both had 3 courses and all of the food was lovely. The special goose breast...
