Great choice if you want to try good German food. Portions are really huge and prices are decent. We enjoyed our meal a lot!

Looked great from the outside, and a typical historical German restaurant. Inside it is large with very high ceilings, which made it feel a bit soulless, although it wasn't full when we ate there. Service very slow and ponderous, and it took an age to get our orders taken even though it was less than half full. The staff were... More

Around the corner from Thomaskirche, and visited the day after the German holiday. Not too busy and beer came fairly promptly. Food took a little longer for a rather modest portion. Personally it was enough for me but some might find it not generous enough.

Perhaps it was because it was a German holiday (May 1), but it was not worth it. We had made a reservation. All in all it took over 1 hour to get the food. The soup was cold (they heated it again without problem. The main dish was truly less then average. There was not even an attempt to ask... More

We ate at the Thuringer Hof on a Friday evening at the recommendation of our hotel nearby. It was extremely busy when we arrived (we had reserved earlier that afternoon) , full of local families and couples, although there were free tables after 8pm. Service was friendly and appropriate, we didn't feel rushed, and the lamb dish we both had... More

Very good local cuisine in a very nice ambient. We only went there once but we'll definitely go again to try other dishes. Service was really fast, even though it was a busy evening. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Having already discovered this restaurant during the day, we decided to return that evening (a passing elderly local couple recommended the food while we were checking out the menu outside), but I made the mistake of checking previous reviews! After much agonising, we went there and had a delightful meal. I thought the waitress a bit mechanical and surly, my... More

We already visited some Saxon/thueringer restaurants in other cities, and were disappointed by the food served in this place. Portions were relatively small (we're taking about German kitchen!) and the dishes not as tasty as we experienced in Dresden or even in Berlin. Specially the spices were too strong, I would say with too much wine in it. If this... More

I am very surprised by all the reviews regarding this place. The place seemed made for tourists, the food was not fresh and not good (although edible), while at the same time not cheap. The only plus was the friendly waiter and the nice hall. I think that there are much better places to try this type of food!
