I am very surprised by all the reviews regarding this place. The place seemed made for tourists, the food was not fresh and not good (although edible), while at the same time not cheap. The only plus was the friendly waiter and the nice hall. I think that there are much better places to try this type of food!

We came here on a busy evening late November but were welcomed and and accommodated cordially. The service was excellent - relaxed, attentive, friendly – in spite of heavy workload. And the food – traditional dishes from Thuringen and Saxonia – were appreciated by all in the company for being tasty and attractively presented. We had a nice evening and... More

Even though Leipzig is in Saxony, the Thüringer Hof is presumably the most well known restaurants for local cuisine with the locals. The menu reflects both the traditional Saxon and Thuringian cuisine, also the restaurant existed long before the current border lines. The ambience is very traditional. This includes the colours, the tables, the seating under the vaulted roof and... More

The restaurant is in a historic building that dates to the Leipzig's early history. My wife, who is a vegetarian, and I really enjoyed our meals. The food and beer was delicious, and reasonably priced. We found the service slow by American standards, but as we continued on our travels in Germany, that seems to be the norm.

I came here as an alternative to Auerbachs Keller (too expensive for my taste) and was glad with my choice. I enjoyed the atmosphere - warm and inviting with a touch of antiquity. Food was great and generous. As I came during lunchtime on a weekday, there were not many patrons - was very happy with the service. Do try... More

Although this building is modern, it is a good evocation of the rendezvous used by Martin Luther. Food was hearty and wholesome, not fancy. Service was good on a quiet Saturday evening. Good value experience.

We enjoyed the range of Thuringian and Saxon food offered here (expect dumplings, red cabbage and delicious marinated meats) and the restaurant is decorated in a very nice traditional style. Our waitress though made it obvious we were a major inconvenience to her day. I ordered two beers initially and one beer arrived, but the one for my friend did... More

The food was ok but the service was so not good. Everything about the service was lacking, slow, forgetful, slappy and etc. This is a restaurant that I would not recommend you to visit.

Visited this restaurant 3 times over the last year, was not disappointed each time. Good quality authentic thuringia dishes, a little pricey though. My favourite dish is the Rostbraetel with potatoes!

Fancy it's not. But it's a lovely traditional Saxon restaurant. I would recommend Saxon potato and sausage soup for starter and lamb for the main. Perfect. Quite close is the famous Auerbachs Keller which always seems to be loaded with tourists. Thüringer Hof may lack the Goethe stories of the Auerbachs Keller, but you get to enjoy lots of peace...
