Traditional food with good atmosphere and great location

Friendly bustling restaurant/bar. Great chestnut soup and other local specialities. Fast service which is good for lunch. Quite large portions. The restaurant is right on the central square in Dresden which has been completely rebuilt. This might be a good lunch/drink stop if you were... read more

We enjoyed our first meal so much that we ate here a second night. The menu has lots of choice of traditional food. All our meals were delicious. A friend has a lactose allergy and they were very helpful. Great atmosphere, good location, great value.

We spent several hours here on a lazy Monday during our day trip to Dresden, and can not recommend more highly! Great food, good value for money, friendly staff with good service.

This feels more like an English pub than other places I've eaten in Germany. I had a most enjoyable and filling meal with good service. Good value for money. Excellent beer.

Whilst visiting the Christmas Market on 04 Dec 2014 we went to the Schankhaus Frieberger for lunch. II would describe it as a gastropub with excellent food and a good range of beers. The decor indicated a a long established inn with old wood inbuilt but I learned that it was a recent build (this century). Staff were helpful and... More

We came over right after the opera and it was steps from where were staying. We were at the tail end of the evening, but they cheerfully seated us in the bar area, brought us cold beer and great local wine, and a great dinner. I had the sauerbraten which was superb. We wish we could have come in earlier... More

I had the pork, beer gravy, sauerkraut and bread dumplings. I think it could be the most amazing meal I have ever had. The sauerkraut was very rich, so different to that in the south.

We ate here one evening and had good food, at about 9 euro each for a tasty, well prepared and presented main dish. The location was great, sitting at an outdoor table to view the passing tourists, fire jugglers when the show started in the square etc.

This large German restaurant has the atmosphere of a pub with far better food. The only unfortunate thing for us was they didn't seem to have an English menu and our German isn't very good. As a result, I ended up with a most unusual beer with cherries on the bottom! Nevertheless, the food was excellent and the service was... More

I was greeted a waiter who was very friendly. The atmosphere was like a pub but the food was very good. The service was very good and quick. I knew what I wanted because I studied the menu outside the restaurant. I ordered potatoe dumplings, sauerbraten and red cabbage. This meal was very tasty. The sauerbraten was very tender, the...
