Having left the rest of our group to enjoy the delights of the opera, my husband and I opted to eat on the terrace of the nearby Alt Meister. Having called by during the day to reserve our table we were a little concerned that this would be like eating in a museum cafe. We were pleasantly surprised by the... More

This restaurant has a touch of the typical Dresden: Romantic, neat and very good food & service. we had some great main-courses (veal and pork) for 20€ which was for the nice plate and the amount of food a very good price. The view out of the window to the Semperopera is just unbeatable.

We found the waitstaff to be condescending, and the food overpriced. We don't mind paying for good food, but when the price seems to be more for the presentation than the quality, we object. You won't have to worry about calories at Alte Meister. That said, the room is beautiful and the restaurant is convenient to the Opera House and... More

This is an art gallery cafe which makes the absolute best of its circumstances. Even at dinner it is never quite possible to shake off the cafe feeling, though both the service and the food are top restaurant quality. Our pork (two ways) and slow cooked veal were impeccable

Attractive location, excellent service and food. Good wine list. Near to the Opera House & Zwinger. A good choice for either lunch or dinner.

At first the place looks like a tourist trap due it location, and the atmosphere is somewhat insipid. The service was very good, waiter took her time explaining the wine menu and food was definitely above average in terms of taste and presentation. Highly recommended place.

The Alte Meister is a nice restaurant which in principle serves nice food. We were really on a high regarding this restaurant until my filet steak arrived and I found that certain parts resembled more a piece of elastic than a nice succulent piece of meat. When I mentioned this and showed it to the waitress, she openly questioned my... More

The carrot ginger soup was amazing! The fish was not so good. The menu is a bit overpriced, but that's to be expected in a tourist area. If you can get a table outside, I highly recommend it. The prices can be easily overlooked if you can enjoy your meal with incredible views of the Semper Opera and historic downtown... More

Read the reviews so this was our first meal having just arrived. Tucked away so took a little bit of wondering whether we had missed it but when we found it what a lovely setting. Service was friendly and courteous and the meal fresh and cooked to perfection. We will go back for the kuchen after the opera!

Based on the rave reviews here we’d booked a table for our Saturday night out and were very happy to be able to sit outside after a brief shower cleared to reveal a beautiful summer rainbow. We had a breathtaking view of the Semper opera house and the Dresden Cathedral to accompany our delicious meal. Appetizers included excellent eggplant and... More
