Wonderful, wonderful place

Had the most delicious lamb and a cheese platter for dessert on a rainy October day. The location is great and the food is delicately arranged and very tasty.

The restaurant was nearly empty and a little hard to find but we were rewarded with an excellent meal. Service was very good. Gnocci stuffed with truffle was superb as was the rack of lamb. Nice ambience

We only had one day in Dresden, and after walking around the historic city centre and wandering over the bridge into New Town, we decided to have dinner at this elegant place between the Opera House and Zwinger. The weather was mild and we were able to sit outside on a deck next to the main entrance (several steps up... More

We were having dinner at Alte Meister restaurant on Oct 6th and really enjoyed the place, the atmosphere and the food. It is a local cuisine and we felt like we were the only tourists at the place (which is always a good sign). We were a company of three- the main dishes we had was pig knuckles (see picture),... Had a fun evening here with friends while visiting Dresden ... Location is central, service efficient and the food and wine were very good. My wife had a fish dish and i had pork tenderloin and both were very well prepared. Wines were also reasonably priced compared to some other places we ate at in Dresden. Worth a stop for... More

We had lunch two days in a row there - enjoyable experience! First we simply needed some break while admiring beautiful paintings in Old Master Gallery in Zwinger, so decided to visit their Cafe which happend to be Alte Meister restaurant. We sat outside (inside part is quite small, by the way) as the weather was excellent and ordered salads... More

While in Dresden, we booked tickets for the opera. We were planning on going to another restaurant near the opera house, but our hotel concierge recommended Alte Meister so highly we changed our reservation. And we are so glad we did. The location, the food, the service, the ambience -- all top notch. My husband had a duck breast dish,... More

This was a great find for our last night in Dresden. I wish I could recall the details, but I went five days ago...all I can say is that it's worth a visit. The service, no food were wonderful, the atmosphere was charming,

My wife and I visited the Alte Meister restaurant twice for dinner during our recent trip to Dresden, on 26 and 27 August. We very much enjoyed it, and would return when back in Dresden. The weather was very pleasant, and we were seated outside with a fabulous view on the Theaterplatz with the famous Semper Opera house, the Catholic... More

While in Germany, we discovered the native's fondness for Italian/Mediterranean cuisine as well as for their own full-bodied fare. The Alte Meister served me monkfish on saffron flavored orzo with vegetables (see photo), as surprising as it was delicious. A fine German white, served alongside...in a baroque...yet easy-going courtyard (highly recommended) helped form a peak experience. A restful place to... More
