This was an awesome find. Impeccably prepared dishes, with a lovely menu of various selections building on tradition and modernity, local origins and, as well as fresh twists on preparation and presentation. Quiet, understated, and elegant, but most of all the food was amazing. Beer selection local (not very extensive). Lots of local and regional wine selections, by the glass,... More

Prof Igor of the Music Dept of Dresden University hosted us to a treat in the Marmor Saal. His young students performed to their best - 11 year old Maria from Granada, Spain his latest find of talent. We then came to Alte Meister for a superb dinner with Maria and her parents. The food, service and ambiance were just... More

Although all the tables seemed to be reserved we were given one outside and had a lovely quite meal (spoilt only by the odd smoker) and good beer. The smoked trout 'tartlet' was not what we expected but delicately delicious. The portion of three sorts of fish was generous and the vegetables with it well cooked and the duck breast... More

Having left the rest of our group to enjoy the delights of the opera, my husband and I opted to eat on the terrace of the nearby Alt Meister. Having called by during the day to reserve our table we were a little concerned that this would be like eating in a museum cafe. We were pleasantly surprised by the... More

This restaurant has a touch of the typical Dresden: Romantic, neat and very good food & service. we had some great main-courses (veal and pork) for 20€ which was for the nice plate and the amount of food a very good price. The view out of the window to the Semperopera is just unbeatable.

We found the waitstaff to be condescending, and the food overpriced. We don't mind paying for good food, but when the price seems to be more for the presentation than the quality, we object. You won't have to worry about calories at Alte Meister. That said, the room is beautiful and the restaurant is convenient to the Opera House and... More

This is an art gallery cafe which makes the absolute best of its circumstances. Even at dinner it is never quite possible to shake off the cafe feeling, though both the service and the food are top restaurant quality. Our pork (two ways) and slow cooked veal were impeccable

Attractive location, excellent service and food. Good wine list. Near to the Opera House & Zwinger. A good choice for either lunch or dinner.

At first the place looks like a tourist trap due it location, and the atmosphere is somewhat insipid. The service was very good, waiter took her time explaining the wine menu and food was definitely above average in terms of taste and presentation. Highly recommended place.
