Once-in-a-Lifetime experience of a 3* restaurant for us Americans on a budget

We are a young American couple who went to a Michelin starred restaurant for the first time--I will try to relate some helpful tips if you are considering it (you should)! It was a wonderful experience (especially the service and food, of course) and everything we thought going to a restaurant of... read more

We are a young American couple who went to a Michelin starred restaurant for the first time--I will try to relate some helpful tips if you are considering it (you should)! It was a wonderful experience (especially the service and food, of course) and everything we thought going to a restaurant of this caliber would be. Though, due to the... More

I am a bit lost on words. What to say here. Perfect service, amazing complimentary appetizers at the beginning, excellent degustation menu for quite a reasonable price by 3* standards, great desserts and petit fours. Simply perfect.

I was invited by a business partner to this restaurant and I did not expect to have such a great experience. Everything is notable, from the building and the outdoor park, the warm welcome, selection of Champagne to start the dinner while reading the menu. Food is really enjoyable and very much out-of-any-standard, may be the selection might be a... More

We dined at the Gästehaus for the third time in 10 years. Having booked for 7:30 we got off the Stadtbahn, the city tram, at 7:25 on Hellwigstraße and arrived on time. The maitre d’ Jérôme and his team were waiting to greet us. We were taken outside to the picturesque English garden and seated at a beautiful tree canopied... More

As far as high-end restaurants go, this was about a 9/10 experience. We had the full degustation menu, and I found it one of the heaviest meals I've ever had. I think perhaps because it is German cuisine, not French, and the portions tend to be heartier. Some standouts were the dim sum from duck, scallops with roh, langoustines with... More

For a special dinner Gastehaus Erfort is among the best. But it does come with the appropriate price tag

Everything should be fantastic in this kind of restaurant with its 3 stars in the Michelin guide. But at this level, it's only a very very good restaurant, and not amazing. Price is OK, very good service and nice staff. Wonderful food of course. Actually, even if the food is really good with great layout in the plates, i would... More

was there with my wife and our young dog. we were seated at a smaller table in a corner not to disturb other guest, which was understandable though not pleasant. The rest of the evening was superb. Service was excellent, friendly and caring, but not too present or even arrogant. I do not remember details of the dinner, but we... More

Go for it and have the "full" tasting menu with wine...the langostines, truffles, and foie gras were incredible -- right on par with any Michelin 3-star I've ever been too. The wine pairings were interesting and perfect as well!
