Visited here for work. I chose the steak and I am very glad I did. Ordered rare, it came perfectly cooked, and tasted delicious. Highly recommend a visit here if you are in saarbrucken. They brew tier own beer, and that's also great!

Made a reservation in advance. They have both German and English menus. I had the trout it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The waiter was friendly and attentive. Party of 7, everyone loved the food. Roast pork was stellar.

The restaurant of the local brewery, right on the main square. Friendly and cozy environment, nice courtyard in the summer, traditional recipes but nicely revisited and well prepared. One of the best restaurants in town, my first choice.

We went out for lunch in the restaurant Am Stiefel. They brew their own beer and I liked it very much. The also offer local dishes. Prices are low and quantities high. I took two filled dumplings. Excellent, but I did not manage to finish it. The environment is cosy but without exaggeration and the service attentive. This time it... More

We first visited Zum Stiefel in 2011, and it was excellent at the time, but the place closed down for a while and re-opened, so we wanted to go back. The second visit was very average – it was better than Bruch's No1 round the corner, but nothing special for the money that we spent. The food was nicely presented... More

Excellent meal. Agree with last reviewer about eating only one dumpling! So good but so filling. We asked for advice on regional dishes. Were not disappointed!

Get ONE dumpling. ONE! Along with the sauerkraut it made for a very enjoyable dinner. We started off with a Sausage/Salmon/Potato/Camembert and some greens appetizer which name escapes me because I only speak 10 words of German. But the server was an outstanding young man who pointed out just what we should have and what proportions. Clean! Attractive! And very... More

This is one of my favourite in Saarbruecken. Just off the main square, this restaurant offers authentic Saarland food at reasonable price. Beer is excellent as well and so is the atmosphere. Very friendly staff too.

On a warm Friday evening in Saarbrucken we had a nice early dinner sat in the beer garden of this lovely traditional German restaurant. Service attentive and efficient. The house beer was very good and so was the food. I had a schnitzel filled with cheese and ham which was huge. My husband had two of the filled dumplings with... More

On a previous visit a booking error unfortunately led to us being squeezed into the brewhouse section of the restaurant, but on this occasion a table was available in the restaurant proper. Despite a full house service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere busy but relaxed. From the menu of local specialities we both chose Saarbrucken pork fillet, which... More
