On a previous visit a booking error unfortunately led to us being squeezed into the brewhouse section of the restaurant, but on this occasion a table was available in the restaurant proper. Despite a full house service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere busy but relaxed. From the menu of local specialities we both chose Saarbrucken pork fillet, which... More

We had a wonderful traditional German meal along with the house beer. This is by far the best German food I've had in years. We began with the traditional dumpling of the region which was huge (plenty big to share) and quite tasty. The salad was also one of the best I've had in Europe and it was all very... More

We headed straight here based on the Tripadvisor note & ranking. We weren't dissapointed. We ordered the Braumeister Schnitzel (Pork fillet, with a cheese and bacon filling, served with bratkartoffeln), so hardly fine dining, but sometimes downhome food is what you crave, right ? This satisfied that craving entirely, portions are generous. Beer was very tasty and the best we... More

We had another great meal here last night. Our friend had a schweinfilet while my wife and I each had the Rahm geschneteltzes, a pork dish in a creamy cheese sauce with spaetzel. Fantastic all around. I also had a side of bratkartoffeln that was very good. My wife finished off with creme brulee which lacking something. The taste just... More

Following indications from other reviews and my Lonely Planet guide, I came here for dinner tonight. It's a cozy place with the tipycal warm atmosphere of german breweries. I sampled the house bier and really enjoyed it. For dinner I went for a potato soap followed by a local speciality: stripes of pork fillet with ham pieces and "spaetzle", all... More

We had dinner and drinks here last week after visiting Saarbrucken’s Chriskindel Weihnactsmarkt. We were not able to reserve a table but we did get lucky to find a table awaiting us when we walked in around 1930. I started with the Zwickel bier, served in the boot (Stiefel) bier mug. It was very good. For my main I had... More

We had reserved a seat at Zum Stiefel and were pleased we had - it was really busy when we were there on a very nice, warm Wednesday evening and we were lucky that there was a table free where we could sit outside. Our order was taken quickly and our drinks arrived without delay. We ordered some of the... More

This was not the first time that we visited this place, but again it was utterly packed. one advice for the interested: reserve. This is a brauhaus with two own beers from tap, and good brauhaus food. Please do not confuse with Zum Stiefel, which is owned by the same people, but which is an upmarket restaurant which is just... Lovely quaint restaurant 'am Markt' in the Pedestrian area. We sat in the Courtyard which was beautiful. The menu is extensive and comprises of traditional German cuisine. The food was very good and the portions were humongous. We shared a summer salad with warm Goats Cheese for starters that could have fed 4. The main courses were Calves Liver with... More

We ate in the bar area. It's the third time we have stopped over in Saarbrucken and have eaten here each time. The menu is a little limited but service is friendly and the food good. Beer is either a citrus tasting light beer or dark beer.
