We had "Hausgemachte Spätzle mit Ementaler und Salatteller" and "Sauerbraten mit Kartoffelknödeln und Rotkohl" -- one of the best German dishes I'd ever had! They were also wonderful with Riesling wines that they recommended for us.

We visited this wine house to test various reisling wines. The proprietor spoke excellent English and knew his wines well. We left with a few bottles averaging 12 euros each. Good wines, not cheap and perhaps more diligent searching at other vitners would have been useful but our time was limited and we were happy with the purchases. There is... More

We had a wine tasting which was very informative and a wonderful experience. Our waitress knew a lot about each wine and offered more info if we had more questions. We decided to get some small plates for an antipasto/tapas type of meal which worked out really well and were very authentic german and tasty. I would definitely recommend a... More

The Weinhaus offers a great selection of local wines. Nice atmosphere. If you intend to visit the Weinhaus with a larger group of people: definetly ask for a winetasting in advance. We had a tasting with a group of 10 and we really enjoyed it.

I have known the Saar-Mosel area for some 30 years and this is a real gem of a place. It offers an outstanding selection of local wines from the Saar - Ruwer and Mosel valleys and good quality German cuisine. I know the wines of the Saar and middle Mosel very well but managed to find vintners I didn't know... More

My wife and I really enjoyed our meal in the Weinhaus. The staff were really helpful and let us taste different wines before ordering. The selection was vast but with their help we homed in on some of the best wines that I have tasted recently. I even bought a couple of cases at very reasonable prices. As for the... More

The wines we had were very good but the food was quite bad. The service was good though. It is more a place to have a drink than to have a proper meal.

While wandering through Trier we happened upon Das Weinhaus and initially couldn't tell if it was a wine bar or restaurant. We arrived an hour before dinner service began so Otti suggested a bottle of wine which was delicious! We ended up staying for a delightful dinner and another bottle of wine. Otti is a wonderful host, runs a great... More

We had been again at the Weinhaus in Trier during our stay in Germany in October, having been there frequently before my wife and I moved overseas, and we came back to Trier for one day in order to meet good old friends for lunch in this tiny little restaurant and wine shop. Again my wife and I loved the... More

It's been a couple of years since we were last here, and previously food had always taken a very secondary role here - with hundreds of wines on the winelist and only a dozen or so dishes to choose from. This time, however, there was a far more comprehensive food menu, but as we had come in to eat flaumkunchen,... More
