Great place for a traditional meal

This place is very pleasant, informal, and just in front of the cathedral. It is not fancy at all, it has a limited menu but the food is delicious. They have a terrace which was great (with good weather). The prices were also reasonable. I tried the asparagus soup (served only during the... read more

What a wonderful find! As the weather was great we sat outside in the shade of a large tree and had a breathtaking view of the Dom and the Liebfrauenkirche. You order at the bar where the drinks are poured for you to take to your table along with a number to place on your table so your food can... More

This is a lovely historic site right next to the Dom with a beautiful terrace, statues, etc. inside, the ambiance is charming, but you seat yourself, menus are on the table and then you go to the bar to order. You take your drinks to the table (including your wine selection) and then they bring your food. I just found... More

Traveling through Trier recently, my 5th time to visit the city, I had the opportunity to eat lunch for the first time at Weinstube Kesselstatt. I was not disappointed. The server was extremely helpful and friendly, the wine was wonderful, the prices reasonable, and the food was scrumptious. I had the lentil soup with sausage and the fish special of... More

I've eaten here many times since the 1970s. I was happy this year to find it is still operating and still good. You order at the counter, get a number to place on your table for the food , but the drinks served immediately. The restaurant is connected to a winery, so there is a great selection. Some English is... More

A very busy and down-to-earth establishment that serves excellently prepared food and good, value-for-money wines. You order at the bar, and the food is afterwards brought to you by the very friendly waitresses. Don't expect haute cuisine, but basic, nutricious and well prepared food. We had roast pork with mashed potato and sauerkraut and gooseleg with red cabbage and potato... More

The place had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food and wine was delicious. Slightly expensive. Would definetly go there again.

Six years ago we had lunch here and we recently we came back. I was hoping they would still have the lentil soup I loved and they did and it was just as good as I remembered it. Love sitting outside just across from the Dom. Great wine, too.

We went for a late lunch as we didn't want to have lunch and dinner. Food needs to be ordered inside, you get a number to put on the table, and food gets delivered to the table. We didn't expect it to be great, just good, but it was really quite good. At least better than expected. Nice view over... More
