Large restaurant, good food but slightly impersonal

This is a large restaurant serving good, typically German food. It's a bit impersonal mainly due to the size, but many of the tables are in nice "corners" making it feel a bit more cozy. We enjoyed the food and the "tasting wines" are good value at 6,30€ for 3 x 0,1l. Recommended as a place to eat... read more

I have been dining at the Zum Domstein on and off for 30 years. It has always been excellent and still is. It is always bustling and serves very substantial portions of authentic German food. This time, I had sauerkraut with speck , suusages and other garnish, washed down with wonderful Bitburger pils and followed with berry fruits and ice... More

We'd eaten here on a couple of occasions on a previous visit and not been disappointed, so headed back again, this time with children in tow. The interior is old-fashioned and very much authentic German, as is the food. There is a good selection of different options, and also options for the children which varied from the normal 'Kinderschnitzel'. We... More

Its a big and busy restaurant on a day where the rain was pouring down outside! But the whole staff can handle it. The quality of the food was first class, and the serving personnel friendly and professional.

Ready for lunch or dinner? what a great find! The atmosphere is welcoming and the food was excellent! Located in the heart of downtown this makes the place very accessible and easy to find. ***NOTE: news to me - the wait staff brings you the tab and just sits by you waiting for $$. This was the first restaurant that I have visited in Trier. I got the lunch menu which was very good and the beer was tasty. It seems that this place is frequented by locals as well. Nevertheless, it was surprising that although the restaurant is located in Hauptmarkt, a very touristic area, none of the waiters/waitresses speak English, even the... More

Great service - enjoyed the atmosphere. Showed up on Valentine's Day early 5:00 pm and seated upstairs. Enjoyed the veggie platter and the goat cheese salad Tasted 2 different wine menus - that was nice Very enjoyable!!!

This is a small wine bar located in the main Market Square. They have many different wines from the area and you can enjoy either a glass of your choice or if it is difficult for you to decide, you can have a wine tasting of three or five different wines. Food is also very good, my husband had a... More

It gets tourists by the busload, but I love the traditional guesthouse ground floor and Roman relics in the basement, plus I fall for the "Roman menu" with its unique flavors. Good place to bring visitors to Trier.

Visited Trier on New Year's Day and it was practically the only place open!! We decided to go in and have a quick snack. The place was very busy but found a table without too much trouble. We had 3 Gluhwein and 3 Apple strudels. The dessert came with cream and ice cream and was good quality. Total bill was... More
