When entering Zum Domstein we were afraid of entering a tourist trap but as soon as the waiter came to use, we knew we were going to have a nice evening. All waiters were friendly. If you are looking for some fine French cuisine, this is not your place to come. What you get is very good no-nonsense food in... More

I had a meal here with a group in the back room and the food was excellent. The venision was awesome and so was the spatzle. Good selection of wines, expeically nice for wine lovers was the "sampler tray" where you could get a small sample of 6 different wines. Would highly recommend for dinner or lunch while you are... I have been here several times when I come to Trier to show the city to my visitors. Good quality food and fast service. They offer a quite nice wine tasting of wines from the region. Schnitzel is a must and the ragout is delicious! They have a nice layout inside and if it's nice outside they have two terraces.

Visited Trier for the day so needed a nice place for lunch. What a lovely find. Sat in the enclosed courtyard and had excellent schnitzels, one with jager sauce and one with zigeuner sauce served with chips and a bowl of salad. Washed down with a Bitberg beer. Followed by warm appelstrudel with cream and ice cream. A total delight.... More

Location good, food good, not great but Good , the wine tsting trays great way to try the regimens wine. It was quite busy with the occasional table becoming available that one could quickly sit at. They really do move everyone through quickly in order to vacate your table for the next guests. So a little hard to soak up... More

We were 8 people on a Friday night, so it was hard to find a restaurant which had space. We got lucky at Domstein. I was a bit disappointed because we specifically asked if they had Federweißer and Zwiebelkuchen: a typical combination for September, consisting of freshly fermenting new wine and onion tarte. One of the staff said they did,... More

I visited Trier for 8 days last August 2014 and I had the chance to take meals with my family in this restaurant 4 times during my stay after trying them last year . This restaurant offers excellent food to clients .I think they have a first class chef in their kitchen. You will have to taste their fillet steak... More

A group of us had dinner here whilst on holiday. Good food with generous portions. Service slightly on the slow side. Highlight of the evening was one of the "set wine tasting menus" that you can order. These come on a special board with tasting notes, and were a fun accompaniment to the meal

We ate there with our kids. Had table for four. We enjoyed our dinner. Did not wait long for the meal to arrive. Service very plesant and professional. Waiter helped us when our daughter spilled the juice on the table. Strongly recomended

This restaurant comes highly recommended and appears to be a popular gathering spot for locals. The wait staff was friendly and efficient, but we were there on a rainy day for lunch and huddled under umbrellas. It was crowded and uncomfortable. The food is standard German fare, though not as well-prepared or tasty as most other German meals we've eaten.... More
