The Italian way in Mainz

started with Antipasti, and then we had pizza and freshly made pasta. all very tasty also the matching wine to go with it. Our table was in the cellar, and due the high / curved ceiling a little bit too noisy for my liking - restaurant was busy. nevertheless I would recommend the place!

Traveled to Mainz many times for business, this was our favorite restaurant for Italian food. The atmosphere is variable: when its warm the outside seating area is great. In the colder months, the upstairs is typical European cafe and the basement is more historically quaint. The food is the star of this restaurant. We have ordered everything from appetizers, salads,... More

i live in Ireland but have visited Mainz on 3 separate occasions. Each time I have dined in this restaurant. It is run by Italians and the food is authentic and really really good. The prices are average, the wine list comprehensive. However the staff are not your usual friendly relaxed Italians. They rush you through, in fairness the place... More

Great food in a nice place. We went for a family lunch over the busy Xmas period and with some food intolerances needed a bit of help which we were willingly given, despite a full house being demanding on the service team. Especially the pumpkin pizza is worth mentioning - a great adaptation of an italian classic... Reservation recommended.

Very typical Italian restaurant but this one is a bit cheaper and more casual than its sister restaurant Il Contro. Most of your choices are pasta, pizza, and salad but they have very creative dishes especially featuring seasonal ingredients. Biggest plus is that they have gluten free pasta for all you people like me with Celiacs. They do sometimes take... More

Large selection of pasta and pizza dishes which have all been of a good quality in my experience. Salads also more imaginative and better dressed than most places I have been in Germany. Place is tastefully decorated, and service has always been of a high standard. Only small gripe is that in busy periods, the seating is packed tight, so... More

We went there for a later lunch, about 1:45. The restaurant was more than 2/3's empty and the lady told us they were too busy to seat us and turned us away. Pizzas looked good but they were not accommodating at all. Won't be back

Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Italy included .In addition, appetizer salad (with prosciutto, apple and walnuts) was fantastic. Two others had pasta they said was great. Hard to find...on a little side street...but worth the adventure for sure!

The ambiance of place is nice ... The waiters are soooooo rude, they aren't friendly at all , they treat clients as if they're beggars or are getting the food for free... Quality of food is not as expected to the prestige and reputation given to the restaurant , as it's not easy to get a reservation there so you... More
