A wonderful job of leveraging white asparagus season

My wife and I are in Germany for her first visit and my return after a 45-year absence. We chose Mainz as our first destination following a Rhein cruise because it is central to her ancestors' locations. We wanted a traditional German dining experience and that's what we got. A group of ten mature people, admittedly tired and a little emotional after several days on a serious Rheingau/Hessen wine tour, were looking for a relaxed, casual evening in this admittedly spectacular, trendy venue, to finish our great trip on a high note. Wine and excellent cocktails were enjoyed as we waited for a table. A friendly young lady took... More

As we had an anniversary coming up, I decided to head for this restaurant because it has a romantic touch to it. This is indeed true, the location is amazing. However, the waiters were rude and we were served by five different servers. We had to wait a really long time until someone took our order. We also had to... More

This huge old church is reliably good for food and service. Be prepared for a lot of noise due to the aucoustics because nothing is on the walls. We did it simple with pizza and salad. Spargel (white asparagus) is in its short season here in Germany, so there was a lot of dinner choices with it. Absolutely a treat... More

I wanted to reserve a table for 2 persons and was told on the phone that they take only reservations for 10 persons, but we could come on chance that a table was free. So what I have never experienced.

Dinner in the church of the Holy Spirit is a unique experience. The atmosphere is top notch, and your guests might feel the distracting urge to ignore you and be constantly looking around to take in the amazing architecture of this old church. Located just off the main road by the river, this is in a convenient location to the... More

Used to be a church ... so interesting ambiance. Bathroom was fascinating ... there were sounds of birds like you are in a forest. Nice Sunday brunch. The schnitzel is huge. Club sandwich looked good. I had a vegetarian Thai curry dish with 3 different kinds of rice. That was okay, probably not their specialty. Stick with the typical German... More

one of my favorite places in Mainz, great location, beautiful building with a lot of charme, the food is really good and creative too, only the wine list could be better, but still one of the best experiences in Mainz

i was there once, for a dinner , did not tried much-some starters and the soup. mostly went there to see the location from inside)) it is a former cathedral, if i am not mistaken, so the interier design is kept and reminds you a lot of a catholic cathedral- it is at least interesting..

Well, you wanna take dinner in a historic cathedral where Napoleon used to keep his horses? Thats the place to go. It has a wide type of menu and good portions. Everything is very good. The only small drawback is the acoustic which is accounted for by the building itself and its nice atmosphere.
