Love the location

An old church and former hospital turned into a restaurant, great location. The food and beverages tend to be good, but as said before there are "these days" when you have to wait quite a while for your food. German custom is also that you have to beg for your check. If you are prepared for some... read more

Here is another place that I'm rating that seems to have outstanding reviews, yet when I come here to experience it, I'm once again disappointed. I arrived at the Heiliggeist at about 7:20pm. I waited about 5 minutes to order drinks. Then I waited about an hour to get another drink and actually order my food. Well another hour goes... More

it's just another beer joint, there is thousands of them in Germany, the trick is that it's in a former church from the middle ages. I liked the venue, the service and food were just average.

When is this restaurant joining the 21.Century accepting Visa,MasterCard or EC Karte. Was embarrassed not to have enough money because either of my cards was accepted. Note to owner. You will loose business. You lost my future business already.

Eaten here many many times and have never been disappointed. My favourite is the weiner schnitzel with deep fried parsley. When in season, the white asparagus is out of this world. Very interesting setting with a very German atmosphere. Give it a try- you won't be disappointed. Prices are very reasonable and service, I have found, is quite good. Have... More

This is a very unique and romantic setting for an excellent German cuisine dinner. The name literally means Holy Ghost and we were told the history of the place includes both a hospital and a church – now a beautiful restaurant. I was with a large party on business and we had several rounds of wine from local vineyards (great... More

My wife and I are in Germany for her first visit and my return after a 45-year absence. We chose Mainz as our first destination following a Rhein cruise because it is central to her ancestors' locations. We wanted a traditional German dining experience and that's what we got. The hotel recommended the restaurant with a strong endorsement. We found... More

A group of ten mature people, admittedly tired and a little emotional after several days on a serious Rheingau/Hessen wine tour, were looking for a relaxed, casual evening in this admittedly spectacular, trendy venue, to finish our great trip on a high note. Wine and excellent cocktails were enjoyed as we waited for a table. A friendly young lady took... More

As we had an anniversary coming up, I decided to head for this restaurant because it has a romantic touch to it. This is indeed true, the location is amazing. However, the waiters were rude and we were served by five different servers. We had to wait a really long time until someone took our order. We also had to... More

This huge old church is reliably good for food and service. Be prepared for a lot of noise due to the aucoustics because nothing is on the walls. We did it simple with pizza and salad. Spargel (white asparagus) is in its short season here in Germany, so there was a lot of dinner choices with it. Absolutely a treat... More
