Food was really good, but a little pricey… this included the 19% tax charged on food. Restaurant decorations were a little outdated and light above us dim due to burnt out bulb. Staff kind and helpful. Large portions.

Ate here three times and every visit was very nice. Great food, good portions and fair price. I lived in Germany for over 18 years and have found this place to be a great example of German food.the schweinehaxe is fantastic. Find this place and enjoy a well prepared meal.

Augustinerkellar is one of my favorite restaurants in Mainz. It is a little out of the way and slightly hidden, meaning not in the main square for Mainz but it is on one of the main walking routes for Pedestrians. The food is absolutely amazing. It comes out fresh, hot and delicious. If you can go during spargel (asparagus) season... More

We found it by chance and although it offers a fair food and good ambient, the truth is could be much better if one of the waitress would have been so rude when we asked for some milk for the cups od coffee... May be the old german style but nowadays these hostile gestures are not much appreciated and less... More

One of a few places open the day after Christmas. This is a great place to have good German fare. Not the best, but good german comfort food. You wont leave hungry. Great value.

This was my first meal in Germany and I was a little apprehensive. No need! A delightful place with pleasant, helpful staff and delicious food. Schnitzel with pepper sauce and kraut was just what I wanted with a beautiful lager after a nightmare all day journey. If you are in Mainz visit this restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

We came here for lunch after 2pm and have no problem getting seated. The place is still half full on the ground floor with many locals. Tried Schweinshaxe (roast pork knuckle) with fried potatoes and Nurnberger Bratwurst with Sauerkraut (sour cabbage). Both tasted good. It is only a short walk from the Mainz Cathedral, and easy to locate after you... More

The food is simple but good, the wine and drinks selection fairly priced. However, there is nothing that can't also be seen in villages and towns throughout all the wine-producing areas of Germany. Visited by a mix of tourists and locals gives for a pleasant atmosphere and is enjoyed by all. The service is speedy and always polite and friendly.... More

If you want a real German meal, this is the place. Nice wine including miller thurgau dry. I will go back when I visit again.
