I am writing 1 year later because tomorrow I will be back in the area and I was looking for this place. Excellent atmosphere, excellent food. I have to come back and ... I will be back this weekend.

Like the beer very much, they brew it locally. Food is nothing special, typical beer house stuff such as Haxn, sausage and schnitzel that goes well with the brew. Since the brewery is well frequented, it can get quite load in the room/hall - to it is not a romatic spot to take out your sweetheart but rather to go... More

We only got to our hotel at 10pm so headed straight out to this recommended bar/brewery. We were not disappointed. This is a working brewery and you can see the vessels in the bar itself. Due to the hour, we only drank the excellent brews. Though talking with the other customers, the food is very good too. Beer is server... More

A smallish brewery with open fermentation! Walk around the place and see the brewery set up around you (signs only in German). Do not miss the open fermentation vats... brave and unusual. Loved the swine haxen and their snitzel with mushroom gravy was good as well. Go here drink well and eat better.

Very nice for tourists or friends that are not German and were never in Germany. Definitively no place for somebody living in Mainz. The bier is really good and it is the main attraction of the place. The interior of the restaurant is also nice. If you just want to test German foods and you do not care of the... More

This restaurant is perfect for a choice of food, it has schnitzel of various types, steaks and to top it all they brew they're own beer! If you're in a group then the 3 or 5 litre tower of beers are great and make a good picture opportunity on the table. I've had the pork knuckle which is huge and... More

I have visited Eisgrub many times with customers or friends when visiting Mainz. It's a great place to go when you are hungry and looking for German food & beer. The portions are big, try the Schweine Haxe. They have a small outdoor area with heating lamps. The beer is good but I would have to loved to see more... More

Three types of own brew, imaginatively called light dark and wheat according to the server we had (though they have prettier names on their website) and all were very good and very interesting. Personally I liked the light best, much more flavour than the normal clinical German light "larger". Quite quiet when I went on two days but it was... More

Just outside the city center you'll find this brewery and everything that comes with that in Germany. Great, I mean, great german food. Also lots of 'safe' options if you're not into the real thing. Grat local beer. Brewed on the premises (next to your table to be precise). As always in these kind of places in Germany not expensive... More
