Best beer in Mainz with authentic German cuisine.

The beer was awesome. Mainz is generally a wine region so it was refreshing to try out some local beer that is brewed on the spot. I had a schnitzel to eat (my favourite) and it was prepared well. I had to have a second beer after the meal as it was just so good. It is full-flavoured and a... read more

You have a choice here of inside in one of the many rooms or outside. The service was excellent and we were served (the waiter and the menu) in both German and English. The atmosphere was that of a typical nice German bar/restaurant. Many types of beers are on tap and you can order a sampling of many small beers.... More

Serve their own brew which was very enjoyable. Did not eat here but looked like cheap and cheerful local fare. Worth a visit.

Always looked busy and lively when walking past. Seats outside undercover by the road mostly full. Went inside sat by the brewing pots.Went for the dunkel which I have to say tasted a little too vinegar like to enjoy. Ordered schnitzel in beer sauce. Two massive slabs of meat with slightly thicker than normal coating arrived. Looked a bit daunting... More

Stop for a beer last night and ended up ordering a meter long board od beers. I thought it would be samples in smaller glasses but instead was basically 12 full-sized mugs of 2 different types of beer. Luckily we liked the beer. Fun atmosphere with a younger crowd.

An institution in Mainz, it's packed every day of the year, why? They brew the beer on the premises, serve good hearty meals in large portions at very reasonable prices and they ensure their staff are friendly and competent. Great to go as a couple or a group!

Visited again in July. We love the place. Good fresh beer (in Germany that is pretty much everywhere!), good service, and good times sitting outside eating. Not much of a view but it is great weather there now! OF course we had the beer. I hade the Jagerschnitzel which I ordered by mistake. But it was great. I think the... More

Beer is good, staff is quick and friendly. Food I would avoid though. My fiancé felt bad after the porknucle for over a day and I just didn't finished my dish
