nice experience very good food. but needs to freshened up.

We ate here with a group of collegues. The service staff were very welcoming and started with a aperitive. But they where in a hurry. so 5 minutes after that they where allready pouring wine for the starter. all the food we ate was wonderfull, fresh and full of flavour. The wine was also excellent... read more

Restaurant is located close to the railway station in Essen. Very classical and outdated interior many tables are in niches, with 4 persons it becomes uncomfortable. The food is of an outstanding quality, fresh and great ingredients. Rather expensive, 5 courses menu, no aperture and 2 small glasses of wine each 210€. Overall not a good value for money experience.... More

I was in this restaurant last january during an exhibition. Food was great( we went for surprise menu), quantities maybe a little bit small if you are a big eater, and desserts were a little dissapointed due to the level of the other dishes, but still good. Waiters were very friendly. So as a summary, it is recommended although not... More

I chanced on this Italian restaurant by accident spotting it from the railway station south side entrance. It is quite small and was very busy on the Saturday evening of my visit. But the staff found me a table in the corner and were most attentive. I did not have a lot of time and limited my meal to a... More

My husband and I were directed to La Grappa by our hotel. I am gluten-intolerant and carry a card in German with a description of what I cannot eat. The staff was very receptive of insuring that I would be able to have a lovely dinner without worrying about contamination of the food with gluten products. That said, the staff... More

Been here 4 times and love it, the amount of love they put into the food is generous. Last visit I went with just recommendations. Staff is kind an observant. If you like Italian food make sure to take the oppurtunity of dining here. The atmosphere is classic with a hint of cheesy. Extra plus for the old lady in... More

We went here with our family, but therefor it is not suited. Cola in a wine glass for the kids and little choice on the menu of regular Italian food. Besides, the prices are extreme high. Should be necessary because if the huge amount of waiters in this small room, watching you all the time.

At 35 Euros the 4-course business lunch was excellent value for money and there is an exceptional wine list. Location is very good: on foot 1 min. from station and 15 mins. from Museum Folkwang.

I picked this restaurant on a business trip as it had really good online reviews. When we arrived we had a window table reserved and the place had a really great atmosphere. The waiter then told us it was a special evening and there was a set menu in place, they were very reluctant for us to see the normal... More

Very pleasantly surprised by our dinning experience at La Grappa. Push the door and you’ll think you’re in Italy. Décor is a touch on the kitsch side but the kitchen works magic. The owner is hands on and know his job as do the wiaters. Food is high standard and so is the service. Wine list is remarkable. We had the... More
